There are many different types of foods which are considered to be suitable and non suitable for babies and young children. According to the government guidance on these paramount, childcare practitioners, parents and carer, and I will be explained in more detail under each foods section heading in my course material. Some egg and shellfish should never be offered to babies and young children under the age of 18 months to 3years and especially not to those who have other types of confirmed allergies and have a family history of food. It is very important to avoid salt in babies and young children, because young children kidneys are younger than 18 months of ages are not developed enough to cope with high salt level. Sometime ready made foods are meant for young children usually contain high amount if salt and therefore you should never be fed babies and young children. For example sausages, bacon and sauce are some of the food that morally quits high amount of salt.

It is very important o protect babies and young children from sugar, because sugar is simply not good for babies and young children teeth and their health. However young children get enough sugar from such as breast milk, fruits and even milk formulas. Young children teeth are more vulnerable to tooth decay than an adults tooth. It is very important not to encourage young children to develop too many sweet, because so many sweet can cause their teeth decay or even sugar drink.

When parent/ carer register their child at nursery school or daycare they are asked to detail any special dietary requirement that their child may have. Some children may need special diets because of an underlying medical condition; other may require a vegetarian or vegan diet. It is important that all childcare setting are aware of any particular allergies or even problem with eating that a child may have. If a parents or carer express any concern to you about the foods provided within the nursery school or daycare, refer them to the person in change an the child’s key worker for guidance.

The difference between food allergy and food intolerance

When work in childcare setting must be aware of child’s dietary requirement, and take into account when planning on how to care for their nutritional need. However it is very important to introduce babies and young children to fruit and vegetable early stages.

When working in childcare setting it is very important to know the types of food you are serving to babies and young children, because some children might be allergy to starting food such as; meat, fish or alternative should to given at dinner or even teatime. Parents/carer and childcare petitioners should offered throughout their early stage to enough babies and young children to experience different flavours, tastes and textures.

If the child had any medication reason for special dietary requirement, for example foods or chemical allergies and documentation should be requested from the child physician. It is very important to provide different types of foods in the childcare setting, because some children and adult are Hindu or Muslims. Muslim doesn’t eat starting foods for example pork and meat it must be halal. Every childcare setting, babies and young children attend, it is very important to share information on culture and dietary requirement with a member of staff in childcare and the childcare kitchen chief.

Also it is very important to inform all the additional member of staff, before the child starting at the setting. Asthma affects the bronchial tubes, and airway. But young children with asthma have inflamed airway produces lots of thick mucus. They are also overly sensitive and hyper reactive to certain thing, like exercise, dust, and even cigarette smoke.

The medical treatment of asthma is preventer and reliever inhaler, although asthma may not specifically affect young children physical and mental development, but it can also hamper their emotional and intellectual development it depending on the severity of the disease.

Diabetes: develop when the pancreas fail to make enough insulin, which is needed to regulate sugar levels within the body. Young children diabetes often needs insulin infection and regular meals containing carbohydrates. Young children are advised to carry glucose sweets whatever they are away from home in case of hypoglycemia.

However diabetes is a condition where insufficient insulin and no insulin are being produced by the boy, which mean that it can’t properly regulate glucose.

Coeliac disease is disease that is triggered by gluten which is found in wheat, barley and rye. Young children with coeliac disease must therefore not be given anything that contains gluten.

Babies and young children with cystic fibrosis often with pancreatic, which it turn cause poor digestion of food. When looking development consequence of chronic disease, this poor digestion may lea to inadequate as a result of malnutrition.

Cerebral palsy diseases, affect developmental in a numbers of way. Many babies and young children are suffering from physically and may affect their visual and hearing impairment. Also other may have learning difficulties and delayed growth. Babies and young children with cerebral palsy will generally show symptoms during the first three or fours year of life. Young children with cerebral palsy may have some of the sighs and symptoms such as; they achieve developmental milestones, for example walking, speaking, and crawling in an unusual way. A babies and young child who suffering from cerebral palsy will has problems with eyesight, bladder control problem and ranges movements are limited.
