3B. Provide a detailed description of two projective techniques that could also be used within the group discussion, alongside guide, to help meet the research objectives.

The two projective techniques are as follows :

COMPLETION TECHNIQUE

BRAND MAPPING

COMPLETION TECHNIQUE :

It is defined as "complete the thing or story writing or in the form of sentence". It will judge what the people think about it that means if a new product is released from the company into the market by seeing the people we can judge the product position in the market. And this is completion technique is quite reliable to use in the companies for the growth of the product.

This technique is used in creating awareness in the people like what is the company existing brand and what type of designs they are making and sending to the market and we can also know the customer preferences and conflicts about the product.

It will increase the rate of data generation and also the backups files like usb,cd’s,rom’s etc…. .this technique is used in finding more results. It will create models or designs or packaging that allow the prediction of the future trends. And technique is accurate.

Eg : Examples can be in the form of fill in the blanks.

How many designs does company want ………….. ?

How much does the company spent on the research project ……………?

Recorded data can be used for ……………….. purpose.

…………… mention safety measures to the focus group.

…………… will decide the payment for the research project.

To conduct the research in company………………. is required.

…………………..technique is used to judge what people think about the product

BRAND MAPPING :

A Brand Mapping is a technique which is used to identify and competing with all present brand's in market position from different dimensions. And plotting them in the map. In brand mapping it will have competition from one brand to another brand, opportunity are available in the market for new product and customer should aware of the product.

It also tell about how do you feel about your brand position in market as a whole. It also shows that the brand has the existing packaging or it is designed with new packaging and it also talk about the colour of the new product.

Brand mapping tell about the position of the product in the market and differentiation of the product from other brand product.

Eg : Examples will explains difference between Nescafe Coffee and Star Bucks Coffee

Nescafe Coffee

Nescafe Coffee Coffee

1.Cost is less

1. Cost is high

2. Less people like it

2. More people like it

3.Brand is not well known

3. Brand is well known

4.It has proper items

4. No proper items

QUESTION-4

A. The difference between panel research and focus group using group discussions.

To

Board Of Directors

From:- Market Research Agency

Subject: Panel Research and Focus Groups

In order to better understand the requirements and attitudes of the customer, the Bescafe coffee company would like use more panel research for research project of the company.

PANEL RESEARCH :

This is a longitudinal study that means it will take long period of time to complete the research regarding to the project of the company. The number of members can be involved in the group are two(2). And it remains constant throughout the study of the research project of the company.

The Panel Research has the records buying trends and brand preferences over a period of time. And the results we are getting from the product are quantifiable in nature. It is more of descriptive in nature.

It is easy to do analysis to find the change in the trends of the product in the market. And it is occurring changes in the frequency. And the results may not be proper for the research project of the company.

FOCUS GROUPS :

It will take less period of time to complete the study of the research project. And the number of members can be involved in the focus group varies six to nine (6-9).It takes into account the attitudes will be involved.

The customer awareness should be there because the customer need to know that the product is available in the market. Whether the style of packaging is changed before the existing one. What is the quality of the product.

It is cost effective so that customer is able to buy the product. And this is much faster when compared to panel research. So work of research project of the company can be completed quickly with the help of the focus group.

Your sincerely & Regards

Market Research Agency

4B. The benefits and challenges of recruiting and developing a panel of coffee drinkers for research purposes.

To

Board Of directors

From:- Market Research Agency

Subject: Benefits and Challenges

BENEFITS :

There are some benefits regarding to the Bescafe coffee company.

Bescafe coffee company has a benefit with long study because in long study the company may come across new things so from that there is possibility to change product better than existing brand.

We can do the testing time before submitting the results because the company will be benefited a lot with this testing like increase rate of data generation and increase in backups creating models that allow prediction future trends.

The results are reliable in nature it means the product from the Bescafe coffee company will create positive result in the customers by seeing the new brand and also the new style of packaging and also colour of the product.

It is descriptive in nature. It means that make the thing clear without any effects regarding to the product from the company.

Easy to analyse the product. It tells that whether the product quality is good or not.

CHALLENGES :

It may be little bit hard for the Bescafe coffee company to maintain the interest of the members involved in research project.

This may be difficult for the company to maintain the backups for the research project in case of members are moving away from the groups.

Biased results can be there since the study is conducted over a period of time. And the members are not involved or considered in the topic (research project).

It involves huge cost for Bescafe coffee company research project because the project is very large and it will take long time to complete.

The data collected about the research project can get absolute results over a period of time.

Your sincerely & Regards

QUESTION-5

"When reporting research results in either a presentation or a written report, it is critical that you understand your audience"

Evaluate this statement and show how it impacts on the presentation and a written report.

AUDIENCE :

"While presenting the research report to the company it is very important to understand you by the AUDIENCE and that result can be in the form of formal report or presentation"

And the AUDIENCE is expressed and explained with a case study below:

A- ANALYSIS

U- UNDERSTANDING

D- DEMOGRAPHICS

I- INTEREST

E- ENVIRONMENT

N- NEEDS

C- CUSTOMIZED

E- EXPECTATION

ANALYSIS :

Analysis is explained about the company what company is and what the company is going to do and what are the projects going in the company at present and what type of projects are undergone in the past and more importantly whether there is a market research department in the company and it is succeeded in research and in development. And how many designers are working in the company.

Eg: The company Bescafe coffee which sells and manufactures instant coffee. And this company is in the UK. And the main aim is to develop a new style of packaging to increase its brand name. And how many designers are working to develop the design.

UNDERSTANDING :

Understanding is one of the most important element in effective communication. Each designer should have knowledge toward the subject what are they doing. What are the problems that need to be understand this can help you gain valuable insight about your readers, which can help you to choose and develop a different design. It can also help you to create a writing plan, with appropriate tone, style, language and content.

Eg: In this the result of the company is losing its market share because other companies are different from this. So by this designers should understand the problem and from this they need to think differently with new designs to gain more share from others.

DEMOGRAPHICS :

Demographics explains that who are all working in the company and are all the designers are male or female (sex), What is their age, What is the educational background of the designer and all the designers work in same department are work in different department and each designer should work towards their goal given by the company.

Eg: It explains that who are working in the company and all designers should have good educational background regarding to this design. What is the age of the each designer. Is the goal of the company is motivating the designers to work on the project.

INTEREST :

Interest explains such way that, Why are they there in the company, Who asked them to be there in the company, What are they looking at the advertisement from this we can say that each designers should understand the preferences required for the company to improve shares and designers should determine the new designs and concepts to increase the profits in the market.

Eg: By seeing the advertisement given the designers who are interested will be capable of doing new designs. And the company should determine the awareness and attitude towards their designs of the Bescafe coffee company by doing this the designers are able to know why they are here and what they want to do.

ENVIRONMENT :

It explains the atmosphere of the company that the employer can work. We can also say that where will i stand it means what is the position of the employer in the company and What is the role he is playing for the company, can they all see and hear me it means that will all the designers listen to his concepts and designs that he made where will be the designs be viewed.

Eg: Confidentiality will play major role for the designer to work in the Bescafe coffee company atmosphere. Because of this the designer may come up with new designs and he will mingle with other designers and they listen to his new concepts from that he come to know what is the position in the company for him.

NEEDS :

At first we have to know that what are the company needs to be associated with your designs. It means that is you designs are the useful to the company to increase the shares and profit of the company. At first as a designer you need to know what are the attitudes and problems towards the company facing with existing concepts and why it is losing its market shares.

Eg: The need of the Bescafe coffee company requires a programme of marketing research to determine the market awareness towards the coffee max brand and the existing packaging. From this company need is that designers should come up.

CUSTOMIZED :

This is one of the important element in AUDIENCE. What are the specific needs and interests should the designer address relating to the specific company. It means that the designer should think about the solutions or do market research for the need of the company so that the result of the company is to gain more profits and shares.

Eg: Now the designer should address particular needs and interests relating to the Bescafe coffee company. And the company need is that it wishes to develop a new style of packaging for its company Bescafe coffee max brand.

EXPECTATIONS :

What does the company expect to learn from your design. The company should walk away having their initial questions answered and explained. It means that the design or the concept you explained to the company should slove the problem and shares and profits of the company should increase in the market.

Eg: What is the Bescafe coffee company is expect from result. That means whether the company is market shares are increased or decreased. When shares are increased the profits will be raised otherwise the profits are low.

FORMAL REPORT :

"A Formal report is usually written to someone in another company or organization. Formal reports can provide an employer with the opportunity to record your progress within the company"

The structure of the report contains:

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

BODY

ANALYSIS

CONCLUSIONS

RECOMMENDATIONS

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY :

In this section we will come to know that what the company is going to do it means that it well tell the designer the purpose of the report, this is method of investigation, and how the discussion is organized about the report and the report should be done such way that if someone pick up report immediately they might wish to read the report more carefully.

Eg: Bescafe coffee company, which manufactures and sells instant coffee in UK, wishes to develop a new style of packaging for its coffee max brand. The coffee max has lost it name in the market due to supermarket own branded coffee have developed packaging. so the company requires market research programme to determine market awareness towards the coffee max brand and the existing packaging. And then the designers should come up with new designs and concepts.

BODY :

In this the Body is probably the most important section of the formal report of all. This part make quick and lot easier for you, if you have written a method before conducting the research. Write exactly what you did because it should read as if your research went without a problem. Once you have written it make sure that you read over it. And also someone should able to read it and do the research perfectly.

Eg: When you are coming up with design and concepts for company to increase its brand. First you should read and check the report you made without any problem. When higher authorities or client reads they should understand your report without any difficulty. Overall this will play major role in the part of research.

ANALYSIS :

The analysis section is what i find the very interesting because you finally get to actually think about something instead another one. I believe that this section is good as you can always find something to talk about in a table of graph if you look hard. If you are finding difficult then i would suggest looking at each point and asking yourself why it is there and why it got there from the point before and why it moves to the next point. This way the analysis goes.

Eg: When you are thinking to raise the market share of the your company you should think differently. You analyse each and every part of it like if you design in this way what is the result and if you design in another way what is the result.

CONCLUSIONS :

This section is often used as a summary of the Analysis, which reminds the designer of the main findings solutions from the research, and the main merits and demerits of the possible solutions. It leads the way for the recommendations.

Eg: The Bescafe coffee company is successful in re launch of the company. Because company came up with new designs and concepts and designers had find out solutions to the problems from their research why the company is losing market shares.

RECOMMENDATIONS :

This section clearly states which alternative solution you and your team of researchers prefer and gives the designer the reasons for your choice. It means that you have made different style of packaging from that the company in the market gaining its shares and profits. Here you can make reference again to the scope and limitations of your report, and to specifics about your company's situation that make your choice the best.

Eg: The recommendations given by the designers to the company change the style of packaging with three new designs concepts. From that the customer may prefer regarding to the new design. With this new style of packaging the Bescafe coffee company maximizes its brand.

PRESENTATION :

1) Each slide should have a good layout.

2) A modified theme must be used in the presentation.

3) The title slide should show the designer name.

4) Digital images or Clipart must be included during the slide show.
