The remaining 50% of the capital will be from the owner.

4.1 Market Analysis

To start this type of business you have to follow the laws of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority and get the approval from them. Also you should have a commercial registration from the Ministry of Commerce and certification from the Chamber of Commerce. The government supports the small and the medium investors by large variety of financial options. The Oman Development Bank will support the company by offering interest-free loans to small investors. It will also provide administrative and technological assistance.

The WTC has great opportunity to compete in the market. Because there are few competitors offering this type of business but with high prices. From the survey in the market, we can see that there are signs of increase in the demand for long range wireless free license in Oman.

5 Business Operations & Production/Service Plan

5.1 Legal Status and Approvals required

The Wireless Technology Company is a sole trader type of business. The owner will be in a General Manager position and will delegate the responsibilities and make the decisions. The company should follow the laws of Telecommunications Regulatory Authority and get the approval from them. Also it should have a commercial registration from the Ministry of Commerce and certification from the Chamber of Commerce.

5.2 Production / Service Process

First of all, the customers will be able to see samples of different indoor/outdoor wireless products which are shown in the showroom inside the company office. The General Manager and Technician will be available in the showroom. The customer will explain if he needs indoor or outdoor wireless. Then, the technician will visit the site with the customer to survey and record the required type and quantity of the wireless product. After that, the accountant will prepare the quotation with all the details. If the customer is satisfied with the quotation, he should sign the paper and pay 10% as the advance payment. After this stage, the GM will contact the agent in Dubai to make the order. The required product will be received in three to five days. After that, the technician and his assistant will take the product and fix it at the site.

5.3 Location & Facilities

The company will rent an office in an attractive location opposite to the expressway and this location will help to advertise the company. The owner is planning to rent a large area not less than (40 m²) and it will be divided by partition. Half of the area will be allocated for the showroom and the office. The remaining area will be allocated for the store and the workshop.

The area of operation for the company in the first five years will cover Muscat,Sohar and Nizwa.After that the company is planning to have two branches in Oman depend on the demands.

The company will provide the customers a full service installation, support and management wireless solutions. It will start to use a high quality brands like MikroTik, ALFA Network, LigoWave, Deliberant and Ubiquiti.

6.1 Organizational Structure – Roles & Requirements

The Wireless Technology Company will start with 4 staff including the owner. The owner will be the General Manager and two expatriates will work as technicians.An Omani employee will be the accountant. The organization structure chart for this company will be as following:

The General Manager is the owner and he will manage the business. He should possess a bachelor degree in computer engineering and wireless networking courses certificates with three years working experience. The startup monthly salary for GM will be OMR. 500 and he should have leadership and management skills. The responsibilities of the GM are:

Tracking of all purchase orders from the agents and monitoring the stock of products

Prepare the monthly financial report

The Technician should possess a diploma in Wireless Communication with two years working experience .The monthly salary is OMR. 350 and he should have the skills in network problem solving. The responsibilities of the technician are :

To install and repair and maintenance of wireless equipment.

The Assistant Technician should posses a diploma in networking with one year working experience and the monthly salary will be OMR. 300. He should have the ability to use networking tools and his responsibilities are:

Provide a support for technician to installing and configuring wireless radio equipment.

To installing, configuring and testing the network cabling connections.

Configure and setup ADSL modems and switches devices.

7 Risk Assessment

7.1 Risks

Usually, the work on outdoor wireless equipment creates safety hazard to the personnel involved because the nature of the work needs them to be above the ground level on the radio towers. Another internal risk should be taken care of is the reputation. This company is new and needs some time for advertisement and reputation.

There are also external risks which are out of the company control. An Example for the external risks is the increase in the shipping fees from the factory to the agent in Dubai. This will force the supplier to increase the price of the products or to reduce the order quantity. Another external risk occurs if the TRA changes the laws of unlicensed frequency by applying annual fees which will make the customers avoid using this technology.

7.2 Contingency Plan

The company needs to create a contingency plan for a possible situations. The safety hazard which may it be occurs for the technicians required from the company to apply the safety precautions while the technicians work and they have life insurance.

, so the GM needs to be patient for the first few months because there may be no customers.
