The Group's principal activities are to design, manufacture or market personal computers and regard to software, peripherals and personal computing and communicating solutions. It is offering a range of personal computing products including desktop and notebook personal computers, related devices and peripherals, networking and connectivity products or various third-party hardware products. The Group also designs, develops and markets one line of portable digital music players along with related accessories and services, including the online sale of third-party audio and video products. The company's well-known hardware products include the Macintosh line of computers, the iPod, or the iPhone and the iPod.

As of May 2010[update], Apple was one of the largest companies in the world and the most valuable technology company in the world, having surpassed Microsoft

Current Scenario:

Since the Internet is booming, having an online ordering system can boost sales to some extent as it eases customers/client to place an order for the company's services. It means, customers can order from their home as long as they have a computer/laptop or an iPhone with Internet connection.

Business-to-consumer and business-to-business commerce conducted by way of the Internet or other electronic networks. E-commerce originated in a standard for the exchange of documents during the 1948 – 49 Berlin blockade and airlift. Various industries elaborated upon the system until the first general standard was published in 1975. The electronic data interchange standard is unambiguous, independent of any particular machine, and flexible enough to handle most simple electronic transactions. In addition to standard forms for Apple company transactions, e-commerce encompasses much wider activity for example, the deployment of secure private networks (intranets) for sharing information within a company, as well as selective extensions of a company's intranet to collaborating business networks (extranets). A new form of cooperation known as a virtual company, actually a network of firms, each performing some of the processes needed to manufacture a product or deliver a service, has flourished. In the twenty-first century, e-commerce referred more specifically to transactions between businesses (B2B e-commerce) and between businesses and consumers (B2C e-commerce) through the use of computer communication, particularly the Internet. This form of electronic commerce began in 1968, when what was called Electronic Data Interchange permitted companies to carry out electronic transactions. However, it was not until 1984 that a standardized format (known as ASC X12) provided a dependable means to conduct electronic business, and it was not until 1994 that Netscape introduced a browser program whose graphical presentation significantly eased the use of computer communication for all kinds of computer activity, including e-commerce.

In 1886, a telegraph operator was able to obtain a shipment of watches that was refused by the local jeweler. Using the telegraph, he sold all the watches to fellow operators and railroad employees and then ordered more. Within a short time, he made enough money to quit his job and start his own catalog mail order business. The young man's name was Richard Sears, who formed Sears, Roebuck and Co. in 1893.

Online Ordering System is an e-commerce function where a company allows customers to order products or services via their website.

Description: E:\farh\Assignment only\CITW\New online ordering\Online_Ordering_PIcture_Cycle.JPG

Functionality:

Compete against the large chains that are all providing customers with an ability to order online. The Online Ordering module provides you with a fully integrated solution to implement, manage and run a powerful sales channel – web based ordering.

The Online Ordering service is a fully functional, standardized Online sell side catalogue system provided for the benefit of suppliers wishing to have a cost effective ecommerce vehicle for Online account or credit card sales transactions.

Online Ordering provides a cost effective vehicle for organizations wishing to present and sell from their product catalogue via the web. This provides the ability to augment other electronic and traditional trading mechanisms through the use of the web. This may be to reach the "tail" of an organization’s market, or to provide for sales of spare parts or specialist products that are normally sold directly.

The provision of a standardized Sell Side Catalogue is designed to ensure that the investment in the technologies and processes of sophisticated eCommerce vehicle is amortized across many customers leading to reduced costs per customer and increased functionality through shared investment in solution enhancements.

The Online Ordering service delivers a private website of standardized functions within the site, made up of secure web pages and catalogue data and associated back-end programming to provide functions that will support secure access to a variety of Online purchasing-related services. These include online ordering (or shopping basket) functionality, express order templates, frequently purchased item template, differential pricing schemes, and integrated electronic payments. A key benefit of this approach is suppliers gain access to a comprehensive online sales vehicle without the long lead times and associated costs. This provides a platform or the basis upon which to develop a wide variety of future e-commerce services, while enhancing the supplier's market position and image.

The intermediate online ordering model incorporates a "shopping cart" for clients, where they can complete their order by adding the required items and specifying the quantity of each item, before proceeding to "check out" which will generate a pro forma invoice for the client and

Automatically e-mail you a copy of the order for processing. You (as the vendor) will then prepare an invoice, omitting out-of-stock items, and dispatch as appropriate. This model is suitable for businesses that wish to make extensive inventories available online, usually to a group of regular customers.

The advanced website model will incorporate an online payment system, such as PayPal or credit card payments. Shopping cart functionality, similar to that used for the intermediate model, will be used by the client to specify the items and quantities required. At the "checkout" phase, however, the client will be expected to make payment through one of the provided methods prior to the order being submitted for processing. Orders can be submitted for processing via e-mail, or via an online processing system restricted to your employees, subject to confirmation that the payment was indeed received. This is an online store in its truest form, with the shop being open 24/7 and very little actual interaction taking place between the business and the customers. It is essential for the store that your stock levels are maintained online (on the site) and automatically updated as items are "reserved" by clients. This type of website will require a high level of maintenance by a business representative, as up-to-date prices and stock levels will be essential for the running thereof.

Advantage:

Business transactions conducted via electronic means; most often referring to Internet-based relationships between customers and vendors, but also including hardware catalogs; also called internet marketing. The Internet, direct marketing's newest channel, has provided an unprecedented opportunity on a global basis for businesses to interact with, reach out to, and be accessible by their customers without limitations with respect to physical location or time zone. E-commerce practitioners utilize the Internet to disseminate company or product information, generate leads, take orders, and build customer databases. Hardware and Software catalogs permit the distribution of vast amounts of personalized product information via a cost efficient medium. Electronic commerce may be adopted more readily by buyers of services and products such as software, information, and photos, because these items can be both sold and distributed over the Internet.

Disadvantages:

With the ushering in of the 21st century, many people have found that it is simply easier to purchase items online, than worry about physically walking into a store, and dealing with people first-hand. As it is, there are many advantages and disadvantages to this approach, and it really depends on the person as to which one will win out in the end. The most important choice that a consumer has to make, is whether they are comfortable with purchasing something over the Internet, or if it is just easier on the mind to be there buying it. For someone like myself, there are many different roads that I can choose to take depending on what type of product or service that it is I am contemplating purchasing. Some things are easy to order over the Internet, some services are easier to pay for online, but then there are those things that you would never even consider purchasing online, and you feel that you would have to be in the store to do the buying. Whichever way that you decide to go, just know that your solution is not wrong, but there could be an easier way for you to get a product online that you have not experimented with yet.

The biggest advantage to buying items online is that you can save yourself a lot of time and effort. Instead of planning out time in your daily schedule to go out and make a purchase, you can instead go to the web-site when you have a free moment at work or at home late at night, and look up the product that you are considering to purchase. You will most likely be able to see all of the product specifications, and on most sites, you can now see comments posted by the past buyers themselves. Web-site purchasing has developed to the point that a sites main intent has now become to make a customer happy with their decision, and to help them make the purchase quickly. That way the customer will want to return to the site in the near future and continue to make purchases. So, a customer can use that to their advantage and only do businesses with sites that will help put their transactions through quickly and thoroughly. One thing that I mentioned was the ability to look at products late at night. When stores have closed their doors for the night, the web-site still remains available to you to make your purchase. This means that even after a long day at work, and coming home to deal with the family, you still have time left to go online and look for the product you want to purchase. The Internet is there 24/7, and is always willing to wait for you to come make a purchase.

Another thing about purchasing online that can serve as an advantage is selection. When you walk into a store, you only see what the store has in inventory at that very moment. When you are ordering something online, you are working with their entire warehouse of products, and this means that you have way more choices to work with. By not having to worry about your physical store having something on the shelves; it saves you the time of wasting a trip down there, only to be told that you will have to return the following day. Some people find it better to not have to deal with the sales-floor people at the general stores. By going online, you don't have to worry about being hassled, and when you decide that it is time to check out, you don't have to waste the extra time standing in line. For me this is a huge bonus, because no matter where I go, I always end up with a slow checker, or behind someone that has yet to decide exactly how they are going to pay for their purchases. By buying online, you can also take advantage of deals that are only offered to online customers, and you can often find bundled products that wouldn't be available at a walk-in store. Being able to pay with a credit card gets filed under the advantages as well, because you don't have to worry about making sure that the store takes more than just cash in person.

Some of the advantages that people have with online stores can double as disadvantages depending on how you look at things. By using a credit card online, you could be over-extending yourself, and incurring costs that you don't know how you will pay for right away. Also, by having the stores open 24/7 to you, you are more likely to buy more, thus spending more money than if you were at a store in person. Using "virtual" funds, it does not seem like you are spending quite as much as when you have to hand the cashier money, or sign the credit card receipt. Another disadvantage, is that lots of web-sites have you pay shipping and handling charges depending on the product that you order. This can lead it to become more expensive than you had originally thought, and people aren't always looking at the bottom line when they hit the "submit purchase" button on any of the sites. The shipping can raise another concern, because you can never be 100% sure that you will receive what you ordered in a timely fashion, or at all. You are gambling that you will be able to get everything that you ordered, and that the product will get to you undamaged.

By purchasing on the Internet, you also run the risk of having your information taken by online companies and misused. Though this is a very rare occurrence, it is more likely to happen online, than in person. It all comes down to being able to trust the site that you are doing business with. To be sure, there are many advantages and disadvantages to doing business online, and it all comes down to a particular consumers view on things as to whether it will be one or the other. While some people don't like to be hassled in the store, others like to get the assistance, and while some people like to browse at a store, others just like to purchase one specific thing and be done. The key is to know what you would be comfortable doing online, and sticking to sites that you are willing to put your trust in. Reading the fine print on anything you agree to online is great advice, and trying out new sites is always a fun experience. Just make wise choices, enjoy your time on the Net, and be assured that millions of people are making purchases online every day, so it is a safe way to go.

Online shopping is a multi-billion business and is constantly growing. Many individuals favor this kind of shopping because of ease. For shoppers who work for lengthy hours, it would be hard to visit a store during standard trade hours. Online retailers allow orders twenty four hours a day and shoppers can easily shop from their place of convenience and whenever they have free moment available. As well, online shopping gives the shopper the facility to compare the products with easiness. This prevents the bother of visiting different conventional stores and finding difficult to remember details like cost and features. Online shopping is predominantly useful for those with limited mobility as they can shop without any difficulty.

Some items may only be available in certain locations of the country and this makes comparing the prices difficult for traditional high street shoppers. By online shopping, products from around the world can be purchased, by comparing details and price of the items. An item which is a regional speciality can be bought online without going in person to that location. In most occasions, the prices are cheaper online than in the high street stores. Online shoppers can send gifts to family members or friends as a surprise. It also saves the time of buying the gifts in high street, packing it carefully and shipping the gift.

While there are numerous advantages of online shopping there are some hassles and fear regarding them? Identity theft is the most key worry for those who fear about online shopping. But threat of identity theft with online shopping through a secure website is comparatively little. Most highly regarded online retailers will give a secure website for shoppers. If the client is unsure about the security there is always a choice of calling customer service to leave the order. One more worry is about dealing with returns. In majority of cases the returns procedure with online retailers is quite easy like returning the product to traditional store. But some time the shopper will be financially liable for the cost of shipping the product back to the online vendor. This can be expensive if the product is oversize. Likewise some the products are not returnable except they have technical damage. Always read the return policy before you buy.Another problem of online shopping is encountering misleading product information or shopper buying a wrong item. The simplest solution is to contact the customer service to verify whether or not the product for sale will suit your needs. But the above problems are almost fully avoided if you shop at reputed online retailers These retailers have secure web sites and concern about identity theft is almost nil. In addition they have dedicated servers and make every effort to load the web pages within ten seconds. The prices are much cheaper, as they sell products directly from the warehouses. Online shopping in reputable sites will not only safe and secure, they also give the pleasure of high street shopping at your home comfort.

Mobile computing:

Mobile Computing?

Mobile computing is human–computer interaction by which a computer is expected to be transported during normal usage. Mobile computing involves mobile communication, mobile hardware, and mobile software. Communication issues include ad-hoc and infrastructure networks as well as communication properties, protocols, data formats and concrete technologies. Hardware includes mobile devices or device components. Mobile software deals with the characteristics and requirements of mobile applications.

The iPhone Has Changed Mobile Computing Forever!!

The iPhone is aptly called, has turned mobile computing upside down. RIM revolutionized mobile email with their Blackberry. Corporate customers flocked to the devices because of the BlackBerry’s flawless ability to disconnect/disable email, contact, and calendaring and task management from the local area network. Employees on the go finally had complete access to vital data when mobile without the need to use a notebook for access.

Unfortunately, RIM was only been can excel in the email realm – their focus was solely on essentially extending Microsoft Outlook for mobile computing. RIM’s failure to capitalize past email helped open the door for Apple and the iPhone.

When Apple released the original iPhone and then the iPhone 3G a year later the devices were praised as the holy grail of mobile computing. The handset is powerful enough to include a feature-rich email client, is capable of browsing just about any web site without issue and has developers flocking to the platform like there’s no tomorrow.

The ability to flawlessly check multiple email accounts with a powerful mobile client is unmatched in most mobile phones. Mobile Safari and web browsing is unequivocally unrivaled. While on the go, listening to music, watching videos or playing games could not be any easier. Did I mention the App Store, even with all its flaws? There are apps for just about everything. Had it not been for the iPhone I would be carrying around a number of devices and items to satisfy my mobile computing needs. The iPhone is fundamentally a mobile computer replacement – there is no need to bring a notebook for an overnight stay because the iPhone is more than capable of satisfying most people’s needs.

Meanwhile the iPhone is for everyone, there is no doubt it is the platform of the future. It is more than capable of fulfilling most consumers’ mobile computing needs. Even if you are a corporate customer tied to a corporate email system the iPhone is more than satisfactory.

Security of the iPhone 5 :

Apple has designed IOS platform with security at its core. For keeping all the user information secure , whether they are accessing customer information or personal photos , banking information and addresses. IOS devices are built to have high security levels without compromising the user experience. The IOS devices are designed to make security very transparent. Many security features are already enabled by default, and some key features, for instants device encryption , are not changeable, which means the user cannot disable them by mistake.

Ways of security technologies and features are applied within the IOS platform:

• System architecture: The secure ways and hardware foundations of iPhone.

• Encryption and Data Protection: The design which protects the user’s information when the device has been lost or stolen, or when an unlicensed person tries to use or change it.

• Network security: Industry-standards networking protocols that help secure data when it is sent.

• Device access: ways that help unofficial use of the device and enable it automatically and remotely to wipe when its lost or stolen.

The tight agreement that the hardware and software share on IOS devices allows accepting of activities across layers of the device. For third party apps, each app is analyzed to make sure that the apps are secure and trusted and uses the recourses properly.

Secure Boot Chain:

Every step of the boot-up process has information which is signed by apple ensure integrity and proceed after the verification the chain of trust, which includes bootloaders, kernel, kernel extensions, and baseband firmware. The secure boot chain makes sure that the lowest software have not been harmed and allow IOS to run only on apple devices.

System Software Personalization:

Apple releases software updates on a regular basis for security concerns; these types of updates are provided for all supported devices. The users can receive the IOS update notification on their devices through iTunes, and the updates are delivered wireless , which encourages the adoption of the newest security fixes. The IOS updates can be installed with iTunes or over the air (OTA) , with the help of iTunes, a full copy of IOS installed.

App code Singing:

To ensure that all of the apps are secure and come from an approved source, IOS expect that all codes to be approved by apple certificate. For instants Apps provided with the device, safari and mail are apps approved by Apple. Other apps must also be signed with an apple- issued certificate. Unlike other mobile companies, IOS won't allow the user to install unsigned apps from websites.

Runtime Process Security:

When an app is verified, IOS applies security measures to make sure that it can't compromise other apps or the system. All third-party apps are "sandboxed". Which prevents apps from gathering or modifying information from other apps.

• Encryption and Data Protection:

Hardware Security Features:

When using a mobile device, speed and power are very important. Some operations are difficult and can introduce performance or battery problems if not designed correctly. Every IOS device has an AES 256 engine built between the flash storage abed main system memory, making file encryption very fast. There is a SHA-1 implemented in hardware, which reduces cryptographic operation overhead.

The IOS devices include a feature to secure data erasure called enforceable storage. The feature is useful so that the user can directly erase a small number of blocks at a lower level.

File Data Protection:

The feature can be switched on and can be connected to the internet and the user can receive phone calls, email. And it also allows the device to respond to events such as phone without hurting the data and downloads can proceed while the phone is locked. Data protection is made and managed by a hierarchy key, and builds on the hardware encryption.

By setting up a password for your device you’re automatically enabled Data protection. This protection protects from an attacker access to your phone.users can choose to wipe the device automatically after ten attempts.

Network Security:

There are many security measures that organizations can take to keep a safeguard information as it travels from IOS device, mobile users can access information from anywhere from the world, so it is important to have authorization and that their data is protected during the transmission.

IOS provides technologies which can accomplish security for both WI-Fi and other network connections

Device Access:

IOS supports flexible security policies which are easily enforced and managed. This enables users to protect information.

Passcode protection:

Passcodes prevent unauthorized access to the devices. The IOS interface applies escalating time delays after the entry of an invalid passcode, users can choose to automatically wipe their devices after 10 failed passcode attempts.

By default the user passcode is usually a four-digit PIN. The user can choose to make it longer by turning on Setting >General >Passcode>complex passcode. Longer passcode is harder to guess or attack and are highly recommended for enterprise use.

Human Computer Aspect:

In the last years mainstream framework for human computer has come under increasing criticism because of serious issues in applying it in both research and practical design. In debates within the HCI research community, the capability of information processing psychology has been questioned and new theoretical framework considered. This chapter presents an overview of the situation and discusses the potential of activity theory as an alternative framework for HCI research and design.

Human computer interaction has existed for some time as a research domain and gained a reputation as one of the central elements in designing computer applications. {{{Several international journals cover the domain; several international conferences have been published.}}} Many, if not most, curricula for software design professionals contain a course in HCI. Given this record, one would assume that there exists a well-established body of harmonious scientific knowledge covering the basic foundation of the discipline. At first sight this belief seems to be valid, because apparently HCI seems to be based on the application of information processing branch of cognitive psychology. People not apps, should initiate and control actions. Although an app can suggest a course of action or warn about dangerous consequences, it’s usually a mistake for the app to take decision-making away from the user. The best apps find the correct balance between giving people the capabilities they need while helping them avoid dangerous outcomes.

Users feel more in control of an app when behaviors and controls are familiar and predictable. And, when actions are simple and straightforward, users can easily understand and remember them. People expect to have ample opportunity to cancel an operation before it begins, and they expect to get a chance to confirm their intention to perform a potentially destructive action. Finally, people expect to be able to gracefully stop an operation that’s underway. People get into things Interesting, useful and enjoyable. When they find that apple make their life easier with many products, they will realize technology become important in their life. Most things in the life work with technology and there are many types of using technology. People are looking for everything will save their time and make their life easier, since the computer enter the life most things in the life become easy to do.

Impact of the Technology:

In IOS 6 there are lot of options and opportunities to make your

daily habits easy to do . IOS 6 gives you more features to make the things you do every day even better. It’s free and easy to upgrade wirelessly on your iPhone.

Maps:

Maps is one of the options that ios 6 has it. Maps has a perfect design that u can see every things around you clearly. You can find your way to your destination using turn-by-turn spoken directions, a 3D view, and real-time traffic information.

Siri:

With iOS 6, Siri understands more languages and works in more countries. So you can get more things done in more places around the world. Even if you want to know the latest scores and stats for your favorite teams and players. Siri can show you the latest reviews and show time and help you purchase tickets .Also Siri can open your apps for you. You can also use Siri to post

Facebook updates and tweet for you.

Share photo:

Now in ios 6 you can share just the photos you want, with just the people you choose . Just select photos from the Photos app, tap the Share button, choose who you want to share your photos with . Friends using icloud on an iOS 6 device get the photos delivered immediately in the Photos app or iphoto. You can even view shared photo streams on apple TV. People can like individual photos and make comments. And you can share as much as you want your shared photo streams don’t count against your icloud storage, and they work over wifi and cellular networks.

Face Time:

face time now works over cellular networks as well as wifi, so you can make and receive face time calls wherever you happen to be. You can even make and receive facetime calls on your iPad using your phone number. That means you can use facetime wherever you are, on any device.

Mail:

Redesigned with a more streamlined interface for easier reading and writing, mail in iOS 6 you can make you favorite list so you will never miss any important message from your accountant, or your boss, or your family . It’s even easier to add photos and videos to email message.

Phone :

iOS 6 adds new calling features to your iphone. Now when you decline an incoming call, you can instantly reply with a text message or set a callback reminder.

Conclusions:

Baseline purchasing was very low, even though the testers were assured their credit card numbers were secure and they had the option to use the telephone instead of typing in their card numbers. The testers seemed less interested in the shopping experience after they made their first purchase, and in general did not get any "thrill" from using the online shopping vehicle. Observers noticed a general "letdown" effect after the first purchase, as if shoppers had expected something they didn't get.

Addition of account purchasing had a significant effect --- but only when account setup was mandatory to use the mall. ZAXOR had previously tried methods on smaller groups in which account purchasing was an option, but the normal method was still available. In these cases, few people would set up an account, and the results were the same as in the baseline case. Our theory from these observations is that the submission of the information is disturbing. To set up an account, at a time and place not related to the actual act of purchasing, separates the disturbing experience from the shopping experience, and allows the shopping experience to be perceived as more enjoyable. Setting up the account is still upsetting, but less so if there is no purchase occurring at that moment. The impact is similar to using a credit card in real life, compared to filling out an application for a credit card in real life. Our onscreen forms resemble applications more than they resemble passing a credit card to the cashier, thus reinforcing the cognizance that real money is being spent here. Our accounts, on the other hand, act more like the credit card does in real life -- in other words, they don't feel so much like real money.

Specials and promotions increased sales of specials and promotions, but had an adverse impact on overall sales. This is different from retail experience in real life, where a promotion may be a draw to get people into the store, where they will also buy other merchandise. In a cybermall, the specials may have a value related to getting more people into the store, if they are advertised on a high traffic site. In our example mall, however, people seemed to feel more of a letdown after seeing the specials. The good prices and deals of the specials appeared to make the other items less attractive. The testers looked quickly at the other items, but seemed to feel they had less appeal than they did when there were no specials.

That’s how Iphone in general helped the market and people to purchase and look at their favourite shop through the iphone or any apple device. Iphone incressed a lot of thing such as online banking and serfing the internet etc.

Nowdays the technologic devices develop so fast to serve people needs and iphone also improve their product within this develop happens and now iphone start to take place in the mobile computing and the apple company made a specific program or application that suit the users needs to go easly through malls and shops they like and purchase through their apple account

Without making them fill forms and forms and the customer get bored and start to go to the shop by them self becoz the site is more complicated .
