Ideally, all stakeholders should be dealt equally but in reality, some are important or influential than others so their influence is likely to be greater in the organization. Analyze the statement with valid examples. (1.2) (D1)

A stakeholder is anyone with an interest in a business. (Covell, 2012) Stakeholders can be defined as "Any individual, group, or institution that has a vested interest in the natural resources of the project area and/or who potentially will be affected by project activities and have something to gain or lose if conditions change or stay the same" (Golders, 2005). The various stakeholders in a business have differing roles and their level of involvement in the enterprise varies from full-time to barely involvement at all. (Hill, 2012)

(dfpni.gov.uk, 2012)

In every company there are many types of stakeholders, within the stakeholders, there are both internal and external classifications. Internal stakeholders are those directly affected by the project, such as employees. External stakeholders are not a part of the business, such as vendors or suppliers, but have an interest in its outcome. However, not all stakeholders are dealt equally as some stakeholders get directly or indirectly get affected by the company’s strategy and its decision. (Riley, 2012). Project managers are internal stakeholders because they are directly involved in developing the project. They have authority to manage the project by handling responsibility of work performance, organizing and planning; effectively ensuring that all phases of the project are done accurately and efficiently. Vendors, suppliers, and outside organizations are external stakeholders because they supply needed elements for a project's success, they need to stay in communication at all times on goals, milestones and deliverables (dfpni.gov.uk, 2012)
