Identification of Interpersonal personal skills

Interpersonal skills consist of not only how we communicate with, but also our self-confidence and our aptitude to listen, understand and react. Problem solving and decision making are also considered as interpersonal skills (Skillsyouneed, 2011).

People with good interpersonal skills are more successful in both their personal life and professional careers. They are apparent as calm, confident and charismatic - qualities that are often appealing to others (Webcache.googleusercontent, 2012). Being more alert of our interpersonal skills can help us progress and build them. Skills we need provide an general library of articles to help us learn about and improve our interpersonal skills.

Trained people are likely to respond to what we say, how we say it and what we do, as well as how these actions make others, and us, feel. These skills are easily additional developed with a little time and attempt spent working, thinking and practicing them. Remember it is worth spending time developing these skills as good interpersonal skills can improve many aspects of our life.

Interpersonal skills are also sometimes refer as social skills, people skills, soft skills or life skills, even though these terms can be broader and may also refer to other skills.

Verbal and written communication skills

Good communication skills are a prerequisite in our personal and business life. Some are naturally excellent communicators. For everyone else, communication is a skill that must be nurtured. With a small time and endeavor, no one will ever know we weren't born with the gift of god (Editor, 2012).

Communication within a team and organisation is vital for the better flow of information. This may be verbal (within a meeting or a 1-1 discussion) or written (a memo or the meeting). Efficient communications rely on oral and written skills. Throughout this unit, we will be set tasks to stretch these skills

Skills required and its importance

Leadership

It is known as a critical management skill, the skill to inspire a group of people in the direction of a set of common goal. These items will help us develop our skills as a leader.

Everyone is a prospective leader and opportunities for leadership happen daily. But, many people lack confidence or leadership experience – they doubt that they can lead and so they do not even try. Learning how to lead includes learning how to follow, so recognizing the roles and responsibilities of leaders and followers is a must important for those who work within a team (About, n.d.).

To lead, we need to be conscious of our own potentials and weaknesses. Before others will respect us as their leader, we must respect our self. We must know people, so that we can recognize what inspires them, what rewards and morals matter to them and how, as a team leader, we can encourage them with our apparition of what the team can attain.

Time management

It's important that we have to develop effective strategies for managing our time to poise the conflicting anxiety of time for study, free time, job searching and earning money. Time management skills are important in job hunting, but also in many other aspects of life: from revising for examinations to working in a vacation job (Rusbult, 1989).

Occasionally it might seem that there isn't sufficient time to do the job that we need to. This can lead to a buildup of stress. When revise materials and notes for examinations or during our final year when we have to mix the pressures of exhaustive study with finding time to apply for jobs fine management of our time can be mainly important. Once we have recognized steps in which we can develop the management of our time, we can start to regulate our routines and patterns of performance to decrease any time-related stress in our lives (Kent.ac.uk, n.d.).

Team work skills

Teamwork is attractive more frequently used and broadly accepted as way to augment output in the workplace. According to the "Twenty-First Century Workplace Trends Study," by Joseph Boyett and David Snyder, "We are seeing rapid growth in the use of cross-functional, multidisciplinary teams" in the workplace (Hai, 2012). For example, they say "one-third of American companies with 50 or more employees have more than half of their employees working in self-managed or problem-solving teams" (Web-books, 1990).  Demonstrating teamwork skills is decisive for individuals looking for jobs.

Problem-solving

In any situation, several people will see only the troubles they counter and will be weighed behind by them. Others with problem solving skills may be quick, perhaps too quick, to see a solution. They may not understand the complete amount of the difficulties. Having an open minded and a positive approach can be supportive when solving the problem. If we suppose that something is impracticable, nine times out of ten we will prove our self right (DiMaio, 1996). Likewise, if we take the approach that nothing is impracticable and are enthusiastic to look for a explanation that works, we are likely to find one. People who are not self-motivated either does very little or use up their team mates’ valuable force to keep them going. Such people are not welcome or regarded in a team.

Personal and Professional development plan

Personal Development Plan is defined as a structural process or step by step process to reflect ones learning, performance and achievement to develop personal performance or education and career (Heacademy.ac.uk, 2008).

It embraces a variety of approach to knowledge that bond planning (persons goals and purpose for learning or accomplishment), doing (supporting actions to objective), recording (opinion, ideas, in order to recognize and support the procedure and outcome of learning) and reflection (analysis and appraise experiences and the outcome of learning) Qualityresearchinternationa, 2004).
