Electronic commerce define as the conducting of business activities such as distribution, selling, buying, marketing and servicing of products and services electronically all over the computer networks. it covers a range of different types of business, from retail sites, through auction or music sites, to business exchanges trading goods and services between companies. In fact, 66% of us have used e-commerce have used it to purchase products of some description online.

One of the factors that e-commerce became so popular is it only requires lower start-up cost as compared to setting up a retail store. Business-to-business (B2B) E-commerce

B2B E-commerce occurs when transactions are made between company to company over the internet. B2B market enables business partners to supply each other in a virtual supply chain to reduce resupply times and costs. B2B markets control your cost by enabling you to identify and compare the prices offered by various competitive suppliers, order in a large amount to enjoy discounts and promotions .

Real world companies that used B2B e-commerce includes Alibaba.com, E-marketplace and etc. Alibaba.com is a website which offers the customers to choose items which they would like to purchase from a wide of products through a online vendor itself.

Business-to-consumer (B2C) E-commerce

In a B2C e-commerce, customers deal directly with an organization and avoid any intermediaries such as wholesalers or retailers. When a product sells directly to consumers, this means more profit for the manufacturer and lesser price charged to consumers as no profits will be shared to the intermediaries.

Moreover it is easier for the online customers to compare prices with other competitors, features, other customer's opinions. Many merchants have recently added a section called social commerce where shoppers can view the products which is only frequently viewed by other visitors.

Consumer-to-consumer (C2C) E-commerce

C2C is a subset of e-commerce involves consumers selling directly to other consumers using a third party website. Products offered are usually single product or one of a kind so the delivery costs would be slightly more costly. The buying process is relatively easier, and there would be lesser discussion over payment and delivery options. With the growth of C2C, people have actually reduce in advertising and selling their personal stuffs in classified pages of newspaper.

C2C e-commerce provides the opportunity for people to make money through selling their own personal items or clearing their junk items.
