Environmental Service:-

Services such as maintenance, housekeeping and solid & liquid waste control performed to ensure safety, sanitization and efficiency is known as environmental service.

Waste is an important debatable subject. In a society where large amount of waste is generated waste per person, it can be reduced or minimized through recycling waste products. Recycling is used to close the loops & to change the structure of the economy. A garbage or waste can be turned into a raw material which in return can help the economy is a positive way.

Task 2 - 5 Marks:-

Event & marketing manager:-

An event and marketing manager is required to posses’ multi-disciplined attitude & personality to lead the strategic implementation & development of Green4go event program & to provide professional event & management skills for the office. The primary focus & responsibility of this role is event. The job holders have responsibility for wider targeted corporate business marketing & go green campaign projects.

Key roles & responsibility will include:-

Corporate marketing & communication.

Organization & planning for Green4go agenda.

Planning & organization of social events.

Safety health & environment Agent:-

The safety health & environment agent is responsibility is managing, improving & maintaining safety in workplace. Ensuring legislation adhered to complied in order to manage the planning, monitoring, implementing, reviewing health & safety environment & quality strategies. The agent is also responsible for carrying out investigation about accidents, keeping records & undertaking inspections & writing safety reports.

Customer service Agent:-

The key activities of a customer service agent are interacting with customers to provide & process information in response to request about the environmental service, inquiries & concerns. Main task will include:-

Dealing with corporate world customers.

Prompt response to customer’s inquiries.

Handling & resolving customer’s issues.

Communicating & coordinating with internal department.

Recycling specialist agent:-

The general purpose of this position involves paraprofessional work for environmental service. Duties include planning & coordination of project, improving & expanding existing recycling programs. Implementing & researching appropriate recycling initiatives & also professional & educational efforts. This also includes organizing, planning, & participating in conducting public & promotional awareness efforts including public speaking, special events & tours.

As a Green4go director I would like to choose e – recruitment as one of the approaches in recruiting externally. Selection & recruiting of 18 staff members in my organization are based on the below mentioned point as discusses below.

Cost effective:-

Job advertisement on internet is cheaper than placing ads in other media. By using media like face book, twitter, LinkedIn it can even publicize a position which is essentially cost free exercise for companies, if directly linked to a company website where the candidates can view the vacancy, input their CV’s & follow-up.

Clear communication:-

Press insertions have space & word limits which might lead to unclear messages on internet. There is 0% word limitation or no word limitation. All relevant details & data can be expressed unambiguous. In addition to the internet service an automated application can be processes immediately providing feedback to candidates who have or have not qualified for the applied position.

Broader & deep search pool:-

Companies have an advantage of reaching to a broader pool of candidates which in return increases chances of finding the right candidate. Candidates can update their CV’s from time to time for future positions.

Improved compliance & standardization:-

The information received by the candidates is obtained in a uniform & standard form which facilitates easy comparison allowing objective adjudication of candidates.

B. Possible consequences of not paying attention to the quality of service provided:-

Firstly it will impact the Green4go objective of not meeting the quality standard promised in providing quality service to our people & customer.

It will affect our work not functioning properly in supporting environmental project.

It will effect employee’s commitment to work positively.

Awareness about the threats of climate change & an initiative in reducing global warming will not be taken seriously by the corporate & local people.

It will affect educational services offered by Green4go.

Health & safety protection of our employees at all the times & in all the circumstances.

Task 6 - 17 Marks:-

Virtual Team Approach:-

Virtual team is a group of people/individual who work across space, time & organizational boundaries. Members of virtual team communicate electronically. Virtual teams are made by proliferation (fiber optic technology) which has significantly increased scope of off-site communication. Virtual teams require new ways of working through technology, system, processes & people across boundaries with effective leadership.

Advantages of a Virtual team:-

Increase in productivity:-

Virtual teams usually see an increase in productivity & the reason is a personal flexible work environment, reduction in commute time & work is not limited by the 9-5 traditional workday schedule.

Market extended opportunity:-

Extended market opportunity is a major benefit to geographically dispersed team & due to this virtual team have direct access to various market opportunities. As virtual teams are located in different part of world, organizations establish the availability & presence with customer worldwide.

Transfer of knowledge:-

One of the most important benefits of virtual team is easy access to transfer of knowledge. Utilizing people with knowledge & spreading out across the globe cab be beneficial to any organization. Wireless technology, online meetings, remote computer access & conferencing systems offer various ways for participants to join in complex discussion from any part of the world.

Disadvantages of a Virtual team:-

Deficiency in communication:-

The biggest disadvantage of having a virtual team is lack of efficiency in communication. This is mainly due to constraints in virtual communication medium. This can also primarily due to the fact that humans are better in communicating with their body language. Inevitably they can face hindrances due to internet restrictions which may lead to incorrect assumption if message is not conveyed correctly. Failure in communicating properly & addressing messages clearly may lead to frustration & eventually to failure.

Poor management & leadership:-

Poor leadership in management can cause failure of any team. It’s more prominent problem in virtual team. Messages should send across accurately & clearly. Inability to communicate effectively to team members can greatly affect a project.

Incompetent members:-

Virtual team should consist of experienced & competent team members. Because of distance factor can affect timing & completion of a project. Failures of projects are due to team consisting of individuals who are lazy & lack sufficient knowledge in completing their assigned task. Only one incompetent team member have a negative effect on the rest of the team.

Centralized team:-

In centralized team organizational structure rely on one individual who make decisions & provide direction to the company. Small business often uses this structure since the owner or directors are responsible for the organization operations.

Advantages of centralized team:-

Accessibility:-

A centralized team is easily accessible to employees who equate more timely response & resolutions. Employees can visit any departments anytime to handle all of the business queries or needs to require doing day to day office works. This formats pools of all professionals into one main office making the departments as a whole more knowledgeable. Each department as whole expertise in various areas are able to share their knowledge with team members, allowing to work better together as a group & be more cross functional. A manager for example can solve employee relation concerns or staffing within the office instead of visiting or making phone calls for each issue.

Communication & flexibility:-

A centralized team works more efficiently & cohesively on complex matters because all of the employees are working in close proximity. If a situation arises it can be resolved quickly by the expertise of a colleague. Centralized team encourages cross training which is an advantage when it comes to succession planning.

Working efficiently:-

Centralized organization work extremely efficiently weather it’s regarding business decisions or related to any project. Business owner develops company vision & mission, set objectives for employees to follow & achieve goals. Centralized team utilizes individual’s expertise & knowledge for running various business operations.

Disadvantages of centralized team:-

Dictatorship:-

An employee is expected to work according to what is dictated to him. No employee is given the subordinate level to take decision, in the absence of the leader. This may cause psychological reluctant & employee may assume no growth or motivation within the company & hence can result in being disloyal to the company.

Administrative System:-

In centralized team administrative system gives way to in equity through excessive regulations or strict official norms which might be redundant or bureaucratic & hinders decision making ability & delays work.

Less creativity:-

Business owners might not want centralized control of a company which requires high degree of creativity from employees. When the central authority holds tight control, high degree of innovative ideas is harder to achieve because employees are likely to suggest less deviations from the company status quo.

Conclusion:-

In my opinion the most suitable solution for my choice is centralized team & reasons are as follow:-

Unbiased work allocation - To be fair in assigning particular work amount between responsible employees.

Work Standardization - One of the outcomes would result in equality & standardized progression.

Area of Specialization – This is an added advantage where the leader is an expert in the same field will ease work distribution process.

Work Replication – Standardization & centralized training of work leave no scope for replication of work/task or actions. This eliminates excessive labor for duplication work & additional expenditure.
