Abstract:

1.0 Introduction

Towards achieving good works environment in organizations. It is vital to adopt code of ethics in organization. Code of ethics involves certain codes that apply in organization. It starta from the emergence corporate code of conduct on 1900 in United States. Nowadays, codes of ethics getting popular and adopt by many organization. Literature had given the definition of ethics from various field of study. Langlois and Schlegelmich (1990) had define code of ethic as a statement that laying down corporate principles, ethics, rules of conduct, code of practices or company philosophy, concerning responsibilities to employees, shareholders, consumers, the environment and society. Society must realize code of ethic as current issue and can contribute in enhance the current code of ethics. In organization, code of ethics is vital to control staff behaviour. The topic of discussions includes concepts in code of ethics, challenges in implementing the code of ethics in organization, and recommendation to address the challenges. Concept of ethics will discuss on code of ethics definition and concept. Author will explain the code of ethics concept. Challenge in implementing the code of ethics is about the challenges, the obstacles that face by top management in implementing this code of ethics in organization. Author also gives recommendations on how to counter these challenges. The implementation of codes of ethics is very important because it can facilitate the staff behaviour, therefore all staffs work in professional manner and mutual respect will occur. 2.0 Methodology

In completing this term paper, primary and secondary literature are use to enable understanding in depth about the ethics and code of ethics in organization. Author had uses traditional and modern approach to find the information, gain knowledge and solve problem that occur in this topic. Using traditional ways, author had conduct interview with (?) regading the code of ethics that implement at University Technology Mara (UITM) campus Machang. From the interview, Author gets the primary information regarding code of ethics and its implementation at UITM. Author also had revise books regarding ethics. The title of the books is (tajuk buku). Authors also use modern approaches that are searching information from internet and UITM online Library. From UITM online Library, author had found suitable article review. The title of article review is An Anthology of Codes of Ethics by Gael. M. Mcdonald.

3.0 Definition and Concept of Codes of Ethic

We should know the definition of ethics before the definition of codes of ethics. Ethics have various definition. Author refers to some dictionary and online articles about the definition of ethics. Refer to Webster New World Dictionary (2000), ethics is relating to what is good or bad, having to do with moral, dignity and obligation. Moral is relates with right or wrong Principe. Chamber English dictionary define "ethics" as "system of morals" and "rules of behaviour". Its clarify ethics as a system to control morals or behaviour. Wikipidia (2012), define ethics or moral philosophy, it involves systemizing, defending, and recommending concept of right and wrong conduct. Terms "ethics come from the Greek, word ethos, which means character. This definition relates with function of ethics in develop professional works. From definition of ethics, authors relate it with code of ethics. According to ( article anthology code of ethics), Langlois and Schlegelmilch (1990) had describe code of ethics as a statement laying down corporate principles, ethics, codes of conduct, code of practice or company philosophy, concerning responsibilities of employees, shareholders, consumers, the environment and society. It can be clarifies that codes of ethics is a statement that contain ethics that should be adopt in organization. There are seven reasons that motivate organization to adopt codes of ethics. These factors are results of information professional discussion. The reasons are ensuring legal compliance and other statutory requirements, providing a guide for behaviour and formalised expectations, protecting and enhancing organizational reputation, ensuring employee, management and supplier compliance and minimising risk, ensuring consistency across global networks, creating and maintaining trust and confidence with stakeholders and communicating principles and commitments to stakeholders. Implementing codes of ethics had lead organization in achieving success in social and fiscal. Even though there are development in adopting this code, the implementation is still limited (Jenkins, 2001).

4.0 Ethic in Conceptual theory

Develop Code of ethics in organization and maintain it needs proper planning and action. The vital elements in adopting code of ethics in organization is, motivation for adopting code of ethics, contents and international code of ethics and implementation and enforcements.
