Alexander was not always called Alexander the Great. Before, he lived in Macedonia he lived in Athens, Greece, with his mother Olympia. Alexander was born late July in Pella. Olympia, his mother claimed that Apollo was Alexander’s father.

Some people believed Alexander’s father was Zeus. His real fathers name was Phillip, King of Macedonia. As a small child Alexander’s father was on military campaigns, and his mom, Olympia, was mentally insane. Phillip hired a philosopher named Aristotle to teach Alexander. Aristotle mainly studied math. He taught Alexander to be a leader. He also taught him math and science. When Alexander was 16, Aristotle had taught him almost everything he knew. Then Alexander said goodbye to Aristotle. At 12 years old, Alexander wanted a horse. All the horses were taken except for one. That horses name was Bucephalus. No one had ever ridden this horse. Alexander asked Phillip if he could have the horse, and Phillip said yes, if he could tame it. Everyone knew this was impossible, except Alexander. Alexander jumped on the back of the horse, and the horse escaped its pen with Alexander on its back. They waited three days. When Alexander returned, riding on the back of Bucephalus. They were all amazed Alexander had tamed the horse, proving everyone wrong. Alexander then joined the Macedonian army.

Aristotle had already taught Alexander leadership. Therefore Alexander progressed very quickly. Eventually Phillip died, so Alexander became the new King of Macedonia.

Alexander, King of Macedonia, was training his army to be the best. When he thought they were the best, he would begin his conquest. Alexander the Great had a goal to conquer the world. He did not reach his goal, but he almost did. He conquered Asia Minor, Syria, Egypt, and Persia.

Alexander the Great began his conquest in the Asia Minor. He conquered almost all of southwest Asia. He became known as the Lord of Asia. Then he moved into Syria. He was also known as the Hageman of the Hellenic League. He also conquered Egypt and became the Pharaoh of Egypt. His greatest challenge was Persia. He faces a huge army of Persians with massive elephants. The war against Persia began in 334 BC. Alexander was 22 years old. He was fighting against his Persian rival King Darius III. Alexander placed his troops on top of a hill. The Persian charged up the hill. Alexander placed his troops so that the sun would reflect off of their shields. The sun burned the elephant’s legs so the elephant fell, and rolled down the hill killing the majority of the Persian army. Alexander then charged his troops downhill to finish off the rest of the army. He was victorious. Alexander then travelled to the church. The only way he could rule Persia was by untying Gordian knot. Alexander approached it, thought for a moment, and then he quickly drew his sword and cut the rope. The Gordian knot came untangled as it hit the floor. Alexander would be known as the Shahanshah (King) of Persia. This was one of his greatest strategic battles he ever won, but he had many more military victories.

Alexander the Great, King of Macedonia, was very smart. Alexander wanted the knowledge he had to be spread around the world. He took all of his knowledge and put it into books. He put all these books in Alexandria, Egypt, which he had founded and

named after himself. This library was called the library of Alexandria. When Rome fell no one knew how to build things. The only reason humans are advanced as we are today is because of the Library of Alexandria. When no one knew what too do or how to do it, they went to the Library of Alexandria. Even after Alexander the Great had been dead for a long time, he still saved the world.

Alexander the Great had an unexpected death. It was not heroic in battle. It was just a fever. Early June, he and his army were in Babylon. Alexander was having a party one night with all his friends. They were drinking a lot, and Alexander’s maid was serving them. He fell into a very painful fever at the end of the party. He suffered for 10 days, and then he died. Some people say his maid killed him. They say she put poison in Alexander’s drink. They say this because he was drunk and wasn’t treating her very well. Therefore, the maid got mad and poisoned him.

Alexander the Great lived to be 33 years old. He had a life full of adventure and battle. He conquered more lands than anyone in history had at his time. He even became king or lord in other counties that he never lived in. He saved the human race long after he was dead with the Library of Alexandria. "Alexander the III of Macedonia lived from 356 BC-323BC. "
