Terrorism And Aljhad General Thinking Of Western People

Islam is considered as the greatest emergent religion in the western region. The western people often considers and correlates the Islamic region with terrorism, for them terrorism and Islam are synonymies. There are various misconceptions, perceptions, stereotypes in the minds of western people about the Islam and terrorism due to the wrong transmission of information by media, ignorance of world towards Islam religion and various prejudices between the Islamic and Christian religion. Islam is frequently considered as the group of extremist and terrorists and fundamental religion of terrorist by the western people. The reason behind this is the wrong reports of media about Islam and terrorism due to ignorance. Due to this the western people hates the Islamic religion and always protest even the good deeds of Islam. Islam is actually and fundamentally the religion of peace and never intended to promote any kind of fighting or terrorist activity but the western people think just opposite of this fact about the Islam. Western people think that Islam is the main cause behind the terrorist activities across the globe. They ignore all the considerations for the Islam and does not interested in doing trade and business activities with the Islamic countries due to their misconceptions. This further leads to create various constraints in the path of socio-economic development of Islamic countries (KATZ, 2004).

The definition of Terrorism and (AL JHAD):

Terrorism:

Terrorism may be defined as the demolition or destruction of material goods or people by other group of people not performing on behalf of a conventional government for the reason of restoring a real/ actual or pretended injustice featured to a recognized government and intended directly or indirectly at recognized government (Truth, Honesty and Justice The Alternative to Wars, Terrorism and Politics).

According to the views of Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) terrorism is the unethical and unlawful use of the power and violence against the individuals or property to threaten or coerce administration or Government, or the inhabitant population, or any division of the society thereof, with reference to the of social or political objectives (Truth, Honesty and Justice The Alternative to Wars, Terrorism and Politics).

AL JHAD:

Al Jihad is referred as an Egyptian Islamic group of fundamentalist terrorist established in the late 1960s. Al Jihad is also known as Egyptian Islamic Jihad. The main aim of Al-Jihad is to swap or replace or change the secular government of Egypt with an Islamic government (KATZ, 2004). Jihad is an Arabic word which means holy war or holy struggle, most of the Islamic fundamentalists considers Jihad as a brutal fight against the non Islamic and western authority. The western people consider the Al Jihad as the terrorist organization as it aims at replacing their government and administration by the Islamic administration by destroying their territories (KATZ, 2004).

Types and Characteristics of Terrorism and Al JHAD:

The types of Al JHAD include the JIHAD against self, JIHAD against Disbelievers and Hypocrites, JIHAD against Satan and JIHAD against the Injustice and the Corruption. Various types of terrorism along with their characteristics are being recognized by the policy makers, security professionals and the scholars that are described as under:

State Terrorism:

The state terrorism refers to the terrorism created by trade through using the forces or threat of forces without initiating the war so as frighten the citizens and thus can fulfill their political objectives. The state terrorism can also leads to the contribution towards international terrorism through proxy.

Bio Terrorism:

Bio Terrorism relates to deliberate injection of toxic biological agents that harm the society and environment including terrorism for the civilians for any political goal or any other causes. In such type of terrorism the viruses, bacteria or any toxins that can harm the society badly are used which could results to biological diseases and physical harm to the civilians.

Cyber Terrorism:

Cyber terrorism refers to using the information technology to attack or frightening the civilians of any country. The information technology can be used in the form of internet, telecommunication to attack or frighten the society. It radically disrupts various networked services and the civilian’s peace.

Eco Terrorism:

Eco terrorism relates to the terrorism is the favor and conservation of the environment. Various organizations frighten the industries and companies against the damage of environment including harm to animals, forests and environment.

Nuclear Terrorism:

Nuclear terrorism refers to the use of nuclear energy and nuclear material to harm the society and majorly used as the terrorism strategy (KATZ, 2004).

 AL JHAD is being considered as one type of terrorism by western people:

AL JIHAD is an Egyptian Islamic group considered to be one type of terrorist organization with close partners to al-Qaida. Their main goal is to attack the US to replace the Egyptian Government with an Islamic state but there is biggest misconception about the Al JIHAD that they are in opposition to Islam. They utilizes various forms of violence and attempts to spread their message of militancy between Islamic and Jihad (Howard, 1992).

Al- Jihad spread their terrorist activities such as car bombing, bombing of foreign embassies, assassination of political figures, suicide bombing and direct conflict with the opposition forces. The most notable acts of Al- JIHAD includes the assassination of Egyptian President Sadat in the year 1981, assassination was attempted on the Egyptian Prime Minister Atef Sedky in 1993, bombing of Egyptian etc. in the mid of 1980’s to 1990’s, the al-jihad relatively inactive but there is no evidence which emphasizes that it has wholly desisted its terror campaign (Howard, 1992).

There are various terrorist movements that misuse the term jihad and there was also misconception that they are against the Muslims. Some of the terrorist attacks used the name f Jihad or mujahidin that carried out jihad. In different countries different names are used such as al- jihad, al-Islami etc and believe that jihad stands for holy war (Howard, 1992).

Reason behind the thinking of western people that Arabs or Muslims are terrorist:

In western countries if any attacks take place peoples quickly assumes that it was an Islamic terrorist attack without any evidence people automatically assumes that it its carries out by terrorist organization such as al-Queda, al- jihad etc. After the attack of 9/11, the western countries or non muslim countries are against Islam although this attack suffers to Muslim nations also. However, the attack was carried out only by a small group of extreme, brainwashed and practicing Muslims who were not God fearing people and ignorant because if they were, they must known that suicide is forbidden in Islam (Miah).

Islam religion itself not allows violence and attacks but just because of some misconceptions published by media creates wrong image of Arabs or Muslims as terrorists. However, Islam is not a violent region and the holy book "Quran" are totally against the killing of any creature, suicide and violence. Although some websites pretend to be translation of Quran but the verses and chapters are translated totally different than the religion of Arab. In fact, Quran emphasizes Muslims to help, support, respect, visit, not to hurt in any way and share things with others religion either they are non Muslims (Miah).

Hence, the some of the misuse of name of Jihad, al- Quida create fear and misconception about the Arabs or Muslims that they are terrorists but all Muslims are not terrorist but they have best culture and religion who tech humanity and respect of other religion and culture (Miah).

The difference between terrorism and ( AL JHAD):

There is a significant difference between terrorism and Al Jihad as jihad means striving or put efforts. It refers to put efforts to establish either the right way or wrong way. It also states that any person who strives to obey God is directly involved in the group of Jihad. Jihad is not only emphasizes on striving but is form of protest against injustice and voting. As such killing, hurting, aggressors, destroys crops, killing any innocent people is forbidden in Muslim religion as similar it is not considered as jihad (Howard, 1992).

Terrorism mean spreading fear, do unethical practices and establish their kingdom in any way either wrong or right. They don’t have any ethical consideration as well as any religion blessings. Their main motive is violence, spread fear, and kill innocent people and no satisfactions and negotiations process is considered. However, the objective of Jihad terrorists is satisfaction through agreements and negotiations. It does not allow violence while in some cases fighting is allowed but killing innocents, suicides are not allowed and if they are involved in War their main motive is to get justice or war against injustice (Howard, 1992).
