Task-6

Introduction

In this task I am going to explain the four reasons of resistance to change in an organisation which I purposed for the sporting goods company. There are so many reasons can be pointed out but I would like to discuss only four in this task with few examples to explain the reason in simple words.

Resistance to change

In most organisations upper level of management can bring big change in the behaviour of the employees to improve their loyalty, motivation and to change their for change which they are going to adapt the new technology and innovative methods to get the maximum level of success in any organisation. It would be achievable that how the trade unions and other employees when senior manager, team leaders or the supervisors will give them the full information and realise them the step which has been take its for their betterment.

Employees are always feeling insecure regarding their jobs, designation and their financial needs. Its scenario of very organisation that the employees are resisting against every change in the organisation weather that change goes to their benefit but they do not know because they do not have enough information with respect to change. These resistances are personal, senior, junior, age factor, and gender wise, old employee, and reference system, educational, professional and new recruitment. Mostly in major and big organisations facing so many political problems in the organisation with respect of trade unions are mostly carets problems with the support of political parties to get there goals and benefits. Its differently came up in different countries here I would explain an example with respect continent, origin developed and under developed situations on most of the organisations. In developed countries employees or workers having better and mature behaviour in organisations because of education so then are more flexible to adapt new technology. If we analyse the behaviour of the developed countries mostly worker or employees are feeling that the change would bring redundancy, loosing jobs and financial benefits. So they are making unions and groups to resist against the organisations for the security of their jobs and financial benefits.

Habit resistance

Every one has habits which allow them to deal quickly and easily with routine situations, and which therefore provide a degree of comfort and security. Proposed changes to employee’s habits, especially where there are ingrained and appear reasonable and rational to people them selves, may well be resisted (ibid). Mostly in big organisations workers are working in grouping system which is so called man’s dominating society or women dominating and there some other internal politics, personal personality clashes and the major problem created group which is called workers union. They are together for the welfare of the workers but mostly its takes the wrong direction which causes problems for the origination. Because in organisations most of time people who are working with the organisation from years and years think that the methods with which they are working they can perform well this could be a reason of resistance.

Security resistance

Current working practise are often more familiar and thus less threatening to the psychological security of individuals than new methods and procedures. In extreme cases some individuals may even forgo promotions because their need for security is so great and fear of the unknown so intense. Job security and other to resist against change (ibid). It does happen that when workers are working in grouping or in the form of trade or workers unisons they are resisting against the changes. So in these are the workings environments involved in the internal politics where the organisational status, personal interests, trade unions vis management and organisation.

Economic resistance

Mostly workers have keen interest and working for the wages, annual bonus, retirement benefits, medial facilities, transports facility and other utilities from the employer’s. So these threats are the most common reasons are forcing them to resist against the prospective change in the organisations. Financial fears are the basic elements to resist for example every body working for his or her financial needs and struggling for the best in his or her life for the best package with maximum benefits with the qualification or professional skills which he or she has and making deals with at time of their appointment. All efforts are for the financial needs to fulfil or to live in the desired life style. So the way they are thinking becomes resistance. For example when new technology will come or the new methods would effects on their jobs status or the value of respect which they getting now from the management or organisation they will loos it because mostly senior workers usually thinks in this way or the change is current circumstances will stop their benefits which they are taking form the organizations. Usually workers or employees are not awarded about the change they are not been informed, so it means lack of information, future benefits or different interpretations forcing the individual to resist.

Status and esteem resistance

Every employee reacts or derived meaning against the change which takes different meanings and thoughts to their status of minds and financial statues and needs. It’s also reacts in different way because every individual behave in his or her way to resist the change. Some time resistance comes from internal and external ways. For example trade unions are internal organisational politics personal interests, blame game behaviour and sufficient information. External resistance legal barriers, economic barriers, lack of information to meet the criteria of change and when the workers are not willing to do it then they find excuse about the new way of style. Lack of social interaction,

It happens in most organisations where different people are working from different backgrounds, cultures; beliefs and status of mind so when the people belong to different regions, continents and religious backgrounds. Social values are other part of changes. For example in Asia,( east, west and south) Europe, Mildest and American. If an organisation where multicultural people are working they changes the dress code in their office for male trousers and shirt with nick tie and for female skirt and short sleeves upper in this changes would affect the Muslim women because in their culture its point of shame the half to body is naked. In the regard she can not work in such environment and cultural change. She would try to get the job some where else where she can feel easy and obeyed her religious and social values. This example fits to other religions, regions and cultural values as well.
