Should Same Sex Marriage Be Allowed?

What means same sex marriage? Same sex marriage can be defined as homosexual marriage, also means' legally ceremonial union between two people who have same biological sex or gender' (Debate, n.d.). Since we beginning to accommodate at this modern society today, it is no surprise that same sex marriage have a long history around the world. Same sex marriage have start accept by Europe over started century ago. The first action of homosexual marriage was occurred during the early Roman Empire. (Wikipedia Dictionary). In fact, same sex marriage have become a controversial issue since a few century ago and it brings some effect to the public. Today, most of the country are currently allow with same sex marriage and they believe that if same sex marriage be legalized, it will help to enhance the country image. Due to this, the rate with the case of same sex marriage has increased greatly over the years. For evidence, the percentage growth of same sex marriage is become 80.4% from year 2000 to 2010 in United States. ( Stark, 2012). Even though there are some success instance from the same sex marriage researches and it seem be allowed by many parties, there are still have controversies around same sex marriage.

Although some people think that same sex marriage should be banned, there is strong evidence that same sex marriage also agreed by society which bring positive value. Consequently, the purpose of this paper is to point out the positive effects of same sex marriage be allowed with it is human right, result psychological benefits and help increase rate of children adoption.

In this world, when we decide to make any decisions or choose any things, it is our own right. Marriage is also not exceptional. In our life, marriage is everybody's civil right. Same sex marriage should be allowed because every people are free to make their own decisions. Same sex couples should be able to marry and have access to the fairness and same privileges that straight couples currently enjoy ( Feingold, 2011). Thus, in this modern society, everyone hope that they have same right to choose their own couple or partner in life especially for same sex couples. Besides that, love is noble and powerful. If we can to be with the person he or she like, it is how blissful to a sentimental person. In same case, if fall in love with someone, it also a happiness matter. So, same sex marriage sure can be legalized as everyone is equal and have right deserves to be happy.

As we know, same sex marriage is a popular and hot topic nowadays. This issue always discussed by public or even some leaders of the country. Homosexual marriage is just like heterosexual marriage and the only difference is just sexual orientation. Marriage is basic human right. Apart from this, same sex couples also should be treated fairly and get same treatment." Let's treat everybody fairly. Let's treat everybody equally", said Barack Obama who is president of United States(CNN, 2013). If compare with others controversial issue, same sex marriage is actually not an attitudinal problem and it not brings serious side effects to the society. Same sex marriage is not capture anyone else of important advantages of marriage, and would also not fundamentally destroy its meaning.(Synder, n.d.). Besides, marriage is about love and commitment between two people. For same sex couples, they also have a dream and hope can build their own happiness. So, same sex marriage happen is just because of love and everyone have the right do their particular viewpoint. Therefore, society should try to accept this issue.

Another reason that same sex marriage should be allowed in this society is it will help to increase the rate of child adoption. In fact, following some Europe country have legalized the same sex marriage, the number of adoption rate also growing at a meteoric rate. For orphan, it is also a good chance for them to feel have a family or shelter. Most of same sex couples prefer to adopt children because they thinks that it is a way for them to experience what a real parent is. Furthermore, same sex couples also able to provide stable environment for children. As mentioned by Tavernise (2011)., child who growing by homosexual family is not greater risk than growing by straight couples family. Also, same sex couples also able to provide love and concern to the children which same like heterosexual family. The children will become more discipline, independence and gain benefits more than negative effects. They will feel the love of family and get protection by their family. The same sex couples will also obtain advantages if adopt children. For instance, same-sex parents who adopt look to be more wealthy and educated than the larger population of same-sex parents. (Rahman, 2011). Therefore, same sex marriage should be legal in order to increase the rate of child adoption.

In addition, the people nowadays must accept the fact that same sex marriage be allowed can help in human's physical and psychological benefits especially for homosexual couples. In this advanced society, many people have face the psychological problems because they contain a lot of stressful matter in their life. In same case, if same sex marriage be legalized, it will provide psychological benefits to the same sex couples. The self confidence of same sex couples will be improved as they will become brave to communicate with others. Another psychological benefits to the same sex couples is they will not easy feel like discriminated by others. Homosexual will feel shame when they hear the issue about same sex marriage. Therefore, legalized the same sex marriage will help them to get more support from society in order to foster social acceptance. Some children who grow in homosexual family will also teased by other students in school and it will influence they psychological health. Deprivation the profit has demonstrable negative psychological and social impact on same sex couples even their children and families. ( Gourguechon, 2012). Homosexual marriage be allowed will provide psychological benefits as they will not feel stressed or feel like always being discussed by public.

Apart from psychological benefits, there are also have evidence that same sex marriage be legalized also help in financial gain to state or government. In actual fact, allowing marriage for same-sex couples is not only benefits for the couples, but also for economy( Peters, 2009). With some of the countries legalized with same sex marriage, they can gain financial benefits through marriage licenses. Under the law of some Europe country, marriage licenses for same sex couples still not lawful as same sex couples must give more taxes to request for this licenses. In another case, if homosexual couples both have higher income, the marriage penalty can produce more revenue than taxing them individually. Additionally, homosexual marriage will also lower in state benefits program cost. Therefore, institution of same sex marriage will stronger country's economic activity.

However, there are still have population of people think that same sex marriage should not be allowed in any countries. The common opponent's argument is same sex marriage will weaken traditional family value. In some conservative and traditional family, the institution of marriage must between a man and a woman. They believe that legalized same sex marriage will destroy definition of marriage. With evidence, the culture and values of family have change nowadays because of some traditional families already not present as much, allowing "gay marriage" would also affect family values. ( 21st century America, n.d.). As a result, heterosexual marriage will be less important in society if same sex marriage be allowed.

Although same sex marriage be allowed will weaken traditional family values, there is still have strong evidence that homosexual marriage can bring benefits to the family. Most of the people nowadays are more open minded and they think that marriage is a freedom choice which is also not affect the institution of marriage. Thus, it will help to change the mind of people who are narrow minded and benefits to their personal thinking. Moreover, homosexual marriage be allowed will also not brings risk to the public and it will make people to become more tolerant in any matter. ( Free Wiki, n.d.) Therefore, people can become modern as public will also accept with same sex couples. Meanwhile, as same sex couple's family become tolerant and unity, it will stronger their family values. The family relationship of same sex couples will strengthen also in order to build a happiness family.

The opponents also argue that same sex marriage may impact to the society. In actual fact, some children cannot be successful because they grow under same sex parents. Children who are still growing are not understand about same sex marriage. Some homosexual parents are not give full information to their children, this cause them feel confuse about this issue. From the research, same-sex marriage will cause sexual confusion in children and boost dangerous sexual experimentation among the teenagers.  (Fischer, 2008). As a result, same sex parents will not be a role model and good example to children. Also that, they may also influence children's behavior and their attitudes. Hence, children will turn to be more treason and always do some negative behavior to attract their parents attention.

On the other hand, although opponents argue that same sex couple may bring negative effects to children if they adopt them, the children also could gain benefits when they stay with same sex parents. Another surprising fact which is same sex couple is also capable for building a family. As we know, marriage is a way to help people to build their family and homosexual couple has the reason to marry same as straight couple. The same sex parents will teach their children about the knowledge of controversial issue. Moreover, respect other same sex couple is also important for public. The children who grow by same sex parents surely will not discriminate other example of same sex marriage. Every government must give same level of benefits to the homosexual marriage and respect other states which legalized with same sex marriage. (Levenson, 2013). Living with same sex parents, the positive thinking of children will also be improved, they will know what is wrong and what is right. Same sex couples also able to constitute a good basic family base to children in order to make them feel safe. There are no differences between homosexual parents and straight parents in fostering a child's development in daily life because gay parents can set up a home environment as effective as normal parents and children also can live happy and healthy. Furthermore, there are also have opponents who argue that same sex marriage may against religion value. For instance, gay and lesbian are not acknowledged by public or law is due to religion conscious. (Messner, 2010). It is proven that most of the people nowadays are more attach importance on their religion. They think that same sex marriage be legalized will break down their religion. In addition to that, opponents also believe that same sex marriage may cause the breakdown of society and that is why it is not be allowed or admitted by religious ground until today. (Against Gay Marriage, n.d.). Thus, for some narrow minded people, they feel that same sex marriage will destabilize the family life and destroy their tradition. As we know, many religious minded of people take this issue seriously, as they have the right to their religious belief. (Held, 2007).

Oppositely, some religions are begin to accept same sex marriage nowadays. For example, as viewed by Hinduism, they does not view homosexuality as a religious sin. (Wikipedia Dictionary). As we know, most of the religions nowadays are liberal. From the religious view, it is believed that people or mature people should be able to choose their own behavior, attitude or even their path of life. Therefore, if same sex marriage be allowed, it will help to push towards liberal democracy. Religions taught their disciples to do good deeds instead of bad deeds. This is because same sex marriage is just the relationship between two people who love each other. It does not involve any crimes like murder, abusing and so on. Certain good same sex marriage example may even help to raise awareness of public about appreciating true love and cherish the person who like you. Thus, it can show that homosexual marriage does not affect religions value. Same sex marriage also does not bring harm to others. In actual facts, allowing homosexual couples to marry will not cause harm to someone else’s marriage and family. (Lubalin, n.d.). Although same sex marriage is an controversial issue, but it really need to be given a deep consideration by relevant authorities from time to time. It is not easy to change perception of public towards same sex marriage, but public should give these people a chance and try to accept them in an open minded way. People should understand that same sex marriage will stronger our regard for straight marriage. (Cook, 2011)

All in all, same sex marriage must allowed is not only it is human right, it also provides psychological health to public, increase rate of child adoption and provide financial benefits. In addition to that, the case of same sex marriage is common nowadays. Therefore, the public should try to accept this kind of marriage as give everyone a fair chance to live without discrimination.

In conclusion, same sex marriage should not be banned by society as it is also not bring serious negative effects to us. Therefore, in order for same sex marriage be legal, government should make changes or modify the current law to allow this issue to be legalized and allow same sex marriage or people involved to be acknowledged by society legally. Same sex marriage is no wrong but it requires public understandings towards it because there is no boundaries for any kind of love in this world. Hence, same sex marriage should be legalized, since marriage is human right and everyone should be able to choose their partner and not discriminated by society.
