What is marriage? In the past, traditional marriage was accepted only as male and female by laws, but nowadays the societies have changed. There are many types of unnatural sex in society such as gays and lesbians. Some states do not accept homosexual or same-sex marriage because they believe that same-sex marriage will be harmful and destroy the institution of marriage. In fact, same-sex marriage should be legal because everybody has the same basic rights in society. Moreover, everyone in the world has equality even if they are gays or lesbians. Why is not same-sex marriage accepted?

First of all, same-sex marriage should be legal because everybody has the same basic rights in society. Many countries in the world accept same-sex marriage. According to Macionis(2010), in Massachusetts, the highest tribunal decided that same-sex partner should be able to marry. Same-sex rights are supported by the judgment of Massachusetts. After that, five states, which are Connecticut, Vermont, Iowa, New Hampshire and Maine legislates the act that allows same-sex marriage. New Jersey, Oregon, Washington and California also accept that same-sex couples are regular to marry. Furthermore, half of Americans agree that gay menand lesbian marriage should be accepted in society by the law just like primitive matrimony.
