Creative Media is a small and medium Enterprise (SME) this company has few branches across the country. This company deals with education program such as software, educational books, and others. As I am the network manager of the company I have been approached by a manager and the manager wanted to know how a Local Area Network can be deployed in the company so that all the administrative works can be ease. There are few types of LAN such as Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, Token ring, Gigabit Ethernet, Fiber distributed data interface (FDDI), Asynchronous Transfer mode (ATM), Apple talk. All this LAN has its own advantages and disadvantages but the manager just needs two LAN technologies so we just discuss about Ethernet and Fast Ethernet technology.

Ethernet is group of computer networking technologies for Local Area Network (LAN). The Ethernet standards comprise certain wiring and signaling several type of OSI physical layer in purpose with Ethernet. The original 10BASE5 Ethernet operate with coaxial cable as shared element. Then the coaxial cables were changed by twisted pair and fiber optic attach in combination along hubs or switches. Information about amount was periodically raised up from the 10MB/s; to 100 GB/s. Systems connecting over Ethernet separated a stream of information into shorter pieces named frames. Every frame includes source and destination addresses and error verifying information so that corrupted data can be detected and reconnected. As per OSI model Ethernet supply services up to containing the information link layer. Ethernet cables are a normal, so it makes it easy for user to purchase the right product and fast to fix the cabling. For instance, if the user bought a router or hub at local computer hardware shop, the Ethernet cables can easily inserted into each port on the hardware system. Computers often made with pre built with Ethernet network adapter, so user can insert cables faster into the computer without other kind of network administration knowledge. Availability

Searching other kind of cable like coax is more complicated for the beginning house user. People who accidentally break a cable can look for changing the cable at almost any computer accessories shop. This will make the people easy to buy the equipment and change the cables are not functioning. It is not so complicated to find hardware that need for Ethernet connections. Most local computer hardware shop stock shelves with Ethernet network adapters, hub and router according to the Ethernet standard.

Tethered

By using Ethernet protocol to fix to the internet whether you were tethered to theu hub. The hub is central connecting unit that links one or many computer to the internet or network. Even with addition long Ethernet cords, every computer must be in the same general placing in order to be a part of connection.

Installation

While it is look simple to setup an Ethernet service for each computer, it will become very confusing and untidy to do for many computers with in a network. It is also very few as long as the quantity of computers that you can install to each services. Many routers and hubs come with about four or five Ethernet port to accommodate additional computers. You have to buy a separate Ethernet cord for every computer all the connecting running from one source could be complicated to deal with.

Speed compromised

When you using an Ethernet protocol to receive an internet service for certain computers, such as in an office area, the performance of your internet

service maybe will be too slow. If all utilize the internet and using the system at one time, this could lower the speed of system significantly. The information to transmission might be stopped or paused on one computer until transmission ends on another node.
