Every organization depends on power of Information Systems and good Project Management. Project Management means managing the change. Many organizations interest in Project Management. In Early 80’s Project Management focused on providing schedule and resource data to top management majorly used by military and construction industries. Today Project Management has spread to all the businesses. People in every country and industry manage projects.

A project is defined as a non routine, one time effort, limited by time, resources and performance. Specifications are designed to meet customer needs. When an organization run a project it has four main phases. They are defining, planning, executing, and delivering. This is the project management life cycle. Each step has both a beginning and an end. For achieving organization’s mission, objectives and strategies Project Management has to select correct projects and prioritize them. Project Management in vestige what are the most suitable projects for development their company growth and identifies projects that can be implemented with their own resources and time. Also Project Management needs to gather talented people to be assigned to various projects. With a good project management any organization can achieve their goals within a short time period.

The defining Stage : This is the first stage of the project management life cycle. In this stage the specifications of the project are defined and establish the project objectives. Also major responsibilities are assigned and teams formed.

The Planning Stage : In this stage need to find answers such question as What? When? Who? Quality ? Budget?. Planning what are the team going to do, Who will involve to the project, when is the project will develop, what is the quality of the product or service. And plan the budget.

The Executing Stage : During the executing stage project work of both physical and mental stages are taken into consideration. Physical product is produced an abridged , software program and a report. And control time, cost, and specification in this stage also. Finally look after the project on schedule, on budget and meeting their specifications.

The delivering stage : The delivering stage usually includes two main activities.

Delivering the complete project to the customer

This might include customer training and transferring documents.

Redeploying the project resources

This usually involves releasing project equipments / materials to other projects and finding new work for the team.

Timing is the major task over the life cycle of the project.

There are several of managers in a company. There are functional managers as well. They carryout l special needs. Eg: marketing manager - specializes in distributing a product or service, the production manger – specializes in conversion of resource inputs to outputs, and the financial manager ensures sufficient funds are available to keep the organization workable. These functional managers do planning, scheduling, motivating and controlling. Project managers have the same responsibilities, but they manage on temporary basis and they often act independently of the formal organization. Project managers are direct link to the customers. They must fulfill the customer expectations while staying within the project specifications. Project managers are directing, integrating and coordinating the project team. Project managers are responsible for every little authority of the project. Therefore they have to ensure that the project have a direct bearing on the right transactions are made between the time, cost and performance requirements.

Project managers generally have a little knowledge of technical side to make decisions. They have to identify right people, at the right time, to address the issues right, and to make the correct decisions to completion of the project.

As the world becomes more competitive, it is important to get things done right at the first time when managing a project. Otherwise company will fail in the competition. To overcome this problem the organizations must need well chosen projects, talented and experienced project managers, good project members, suitable environment and adequate time. If a company project fails, it will directly affect to the strategic plan of the organization. And project manager have to bear the responsibility for the actions that ware taken.

Strategic plans are written by one group of managers, projects are selected by another group of managers, and projects are implemented by a different group. These independent decisions made by different groups of managers under several conditions. Those conditions leads to collision an unsatisfied customer. Under the conditions company resources are wasted in non value added projects.

Project management are interrelated system of all the above parts. If there is any change in one part it will directly affect to the whole. Every organization has a customer that they are seeking to satisfy. A Company with good project management, will achieve success within a short time.
