SCORPIA Rising

The characters are: Alex Rider is described as being a strikingly good looking 15 year old boy with light brown hair and a handsome slender face. He also has brown eyes and a slightly hard narrow mouth. Alan blunt was the chief executive of the special operations division of MI6 and his second-in-command was Tulip Jones, who replaced him. Jack Starbright is described as being in her late twenties, with tangled red hair and a round, boyish face, and is conveyed as being caring towards Alex, even if she isn't his legal guardian. Military Intelligence Six (MI6) is the British intelligence service that employed Alex Rider Tulip Jones, often referred to as Mrs. Jones is the second in command of MI6 Operations. SCORPIA was a terrorist organization whose name stands for sabotage, corruption, Intelligence and Assassination. It is run by a board of ex-spies. Julius is 1 of 16 clones created by Dr. Hugo Grief who had plastic surgery so now he looks like Alex. Abdul-Aziz Al-Rahim wears round glasses he is described as being small and slight, more like a girl than a man. His hair grew gray when he was only in his twenties he wears a bleached white dishdasha oh and he also smokes Black Devil cigarettes. Erik Gunter Gunter is the head of security at the Cairo International College of Arts and Education in Egypt, but he is also secretly working for SCORPIA and he is also the secondary antagonist.

There are 3 different settings. America the land of the free. Egypt a dry hot place. Cairo some city in Egypt vary hot and dry.

The problem in this story is SCORPIA is trying to steal the Elgin marbles from the US and return them to Greece but they are also trying to kill the sectary of the US so the US doesn’t take them back from Greece again.

The only injustice in this story is that Alan Blunt sent the sniper to shoot at Alex but miss so he could trick Alex to go to Cairo, Egypt and investigate the Cairo International College of Arts and Education because General Erik Gunter who works for SCORPIA signed up for the head of security at right after the person that worked at that originally had that possession got run over by a car and in the car was Erik Gunter.

The climax of the story is when SCORPIA captures Alex.

The resolution of the story is when Razim fell off the broken rope bridge into the huge pile of salt and died and the sectary of the US is safe and the Elgin marbles are still in the hands of the US and Alex is safe.

The plot: Zeljan Kurst, the leader of Scorpia, is asked by Yannis Ariston Xenopolos, a Greek billionaire dying of cancer, to get the British government to return the Elgin Marbles to Greece. He is promised 40,000,000 Euros, half in advance. MI6 has been tipped about the visit by a mole in exchange for a change of identity and tries to capture Kurst, but Scorpia agents in the museum disguised as visitors help Kurst to escape. He assigns the mission to new Scorpia member as Razim. At a Scorpia board meeting in Paris, Razim explains how his plan will work and mentions, to the delight of the other board members, that Alex Rider will be killed as part of the plan. He plans to blackmail the British government with proof that MI6 is using a teenage spy. The plan requires Scorpia to build up a file, codenamed Horseman, on the subject of Alex Rider being used as a spy by the British government. Scorpia plans to have Alex killed in a "mission" use this file as proof of his liaison with MI6 to expose the British government’s disgraceful act, which will ruin the British reputation, unless the Elgin Marbles are returned to Greece. Levi Kroll strongly disagrees with the plan and pulls a gun on Zeljan Kurst, demanding to leave. He is shot in the neck by a sniper on Kurst’s orders and his body is used for the plan. His body is transported from Paris to England and is discovered by MI6 floating on the River Thames. In a secret prison in Gibraltar for criminals, Scorpia manages to free Alex’s look-alike from Point Blanc, Julius Grief, one of Hugo Grief’s clones, who is crazed on revenge over Alex for what he did in Point Blanc. They hide a gun in the Library for him along with instructions, enabling him to get out of the gates by taking his psychiatrist hostage. Julius finds a car Scorpia had placed near the prison and drives into a barn when surrounded by the authority. A duplicate remote-controlled car is released from the barn soon after he drives into it, with a dummy in the front. The car goes over the cliff and everyone believes Julius is dead. MI6 scientists use clues found on Kroll’s iPhone to piece together an attack at the Cairo International College of Arts and Education in Cairo, Egypt, where many wealthy children are sent to school. Alan Blunt, nearing the end of his career, suggests sending Alex on the mission but Tulip Jones opposes this idea. Alex is targeted by a sniper at school and his friend Tom is shot in the arm. Alex follows the sniper and sends the sniper’s helicopter crashing into the River Thames by flinging a fire extinguisher at it. Later that night, Mr. Blunt and Mrs. Jones visit Alex at his house which unknown to any of them is bugged by Scorpia. Scorpia records MI6 sending Alex on a mission to Cairo to investigate the new head of security Erik Gunter a retired soldier believed to have connections with Scorpia.  Jack Starbright, Alex’s American best friend and guardian, decides to come with Alex to Egypt even though she wanted to return to her native country. MI6 also sends Mr. Smithers the gadget master to assist Alex on the mission. Alex enrolls at the CICC and keeps an eye on Gunter. Using an iPhone gadget devised by Smithers Alex breaks into Gunter’s office and finds several photos and a gun in a secret compartment built into Gunter’s desk. One of these photos appears to be him exiting the school alone, which Alex finds peculiar because until then, he had never left school by himself. Upon exiting the school, then Alex overhears Gunter arranging to meet someone at the House of Gold. After he leaves, Gunter makes another call confirming the progress of Scorpia’s plan. Gunter arrives at the House of Gold to pick up a gun and shoots the weapons dealer who sold it to him. Alex goes to the House of Gold with Jack and sees Gunther exiting the floating marketplace. He tells Jack to follow Gunter while he investigates the place and discovers the dealer’s body. The market is blown up while he is on it, due to a bomb Gunter placed there shortly before exiting. He is kidnapped by the CIA and taken to a room where he is waterboarded for information. Luckily, this is quickly stopped by Joe Byrne, a CIA agent who recognizes Alex from working with him on prior missions. The CIA knows that Alex is an MI6 spy and believes that he is an assassin. They reveal that they are in Cairo to protect the Secretary of State, who is planning to make an anti-British speech. Though the CIA is well aware of the furor that will be caused by the speech (mentioning that even the President tried to stop it), they are force to provide security for the Secretary. Byrne urges Alex to leave Cairo as soon as he can and decides to have Gunter monitored based on what Alex told him. Alex plans to leave Egypt for America with Jack and visits Smithers to say goodbye. There, Smithers receives an unexpected visitor, a Scorpia agent disguised as a mailman delivering a parcel containing a gun. Using booby traps throughout the house, Smithers and Alex escape through a back exit. Smithers suggest that he and Alex split up and steps out of his fat suit to reveal a skinny Irishman in his late thirties. Alex returns home to find that Jack has been kidnapped. There is a note ordering him to meet Scorpia by a certain time, alone, or Jack will die. Alex, seeing no other choice, complies. When he arrives at the meeting place, Alex comes face-to-face with Julius Grief. Julius and Gunter hand Alex the empty rifle from the weapons dealer and take photos of Alex holding it. They then abduct him and take him to Razim’s fort in the Sahara Desert. Razim plans to make Alex his next subject, so he cannot be physically abused before experimentation. Razim uses the opportunity to subject Alex to emotional pain. He pretends to allow Jack to escape from her cell by ensuring that one of the bars is weak enough to be removed with a knife Jack has stolen from breakfast and lets her drive off in an old Land Rover which, unknown to her, contains explosives inside. Alex watches on live video as Julius detonates the explosives. His grief becomes so unbearable that Razim’s monitors go off the charts and he becomes unconscious. Alex is bound and gagged, then taken to Cairo in a van, where he is told what will face him by Gunter when the Secretary of State gives her anti-British speech, Julius posing as Alex will assassinate her, and in the clamor that follows, Alex’s body will be found nearby. Days later, Scorpia will begin their blackmail, threatening to expose their file on MI6′s use of a schoolboy as an assassin unless the Elgin Marbles are returned to Greece. As a last request, Alex asks for a cigarette, and as Gunter opens the packet, and a pissed off scorpion inside the packet stings him. This immobilises Gunter enough for Alex to steal his gun and break his nose. Alex leaves Gunter to die inside the van and rushes inside, just as Julius is sneaking away in order to go to his hidden sniper rifle and kill the Secretary of State. Alex follows him and distracts Julius just in the nick of time so that a shot is fired, alerting everyone to the presence of a sniper, but no one is killed. This creates a frenzy and allows Julius to slip away into the crowd, leaving Alex the need to chase him or lose him again. Alex chases Julius through the streets of Cairo, culminating in a grassy verge by the side of a road, where Julius has slipped. He claims that Alex wouldn’t dare kill him but as Alex turns away, Julius reaches for his gun and is shot in turn by Alex – the first time Alex shoots someone. Alex meets up with the CIA, who is forming a joint taskforce with the Egyptians to take out Razim in the desert. However, Alex is needed to locate the fort and to avoid suspicion when landing. They torture the pilot in order to figure out the code word, "Selket", so they won’t get shot down while approaching the fort. Alex poses as Julius upon arrival. However, Razim sees through this and a shootout begins. The shootout ends on the drawbridge between the two halves of the fort, which splits and sends Razim falling into the salt pile below. He is crushed by the pressure. Alex runs to place where Jack died and mourns. Mrs. Jones takes over from Mr. Blunt as the head of MI6. Blunt announces that he plans to enjoy a life of relaxation in Venice. She reveals to him her knowledge of him hiring the sniper in order to convince Alex to go on another mission, which he does not deny. Blunt says that as the new head of MI6, she will have to make decisions and choices as difficult. Scorpia is finished and several senior members, including Zeljan Kurst, have been arrested. Meanwhile Alex is last seen boarding a plane for the United States with Edward Pleasure, father of Sabina Pleasure, where he will be able to live a normal life. Sabina’s parents have been made his legal guardians. The book ends with Mr. Pleasure asking Alex if he is alright and Alex responding, "Yes, I’m fine."

The main idea of Scorpia Rising is about a teenage spy named Alex Rider hired whose parents and all of his family is dead, and was trained by his uncle to be a spy. M16, the British intelligence service has hired Alex to investigate an operation carried out by a criminal organization by the name of Scorpia, in which he must go to Cairo to investigate a school in which suspicious activity has aroused. Alex later uncovers a secret conspiracy set forth by Scorpia to blackmail the British government into giving back Greece the Elgin Marbles and Alex must try to stop Scorpia under impossible circumstances. I love this story! How he described the events are wonderful it makes me feel like I was there and during the action and stressful parts it made my hart race that quality(I mean the quality of making you feel like you are in the book) is hard to find in good books that is why I love this book.
