Introduction

I require doing this exercise as my individual assignment which is personal entrepreneurial strategy. This exercise includes 5 parts. Part I is profile of the past which include my personal history and my business hero. Part II is profile of the present involve my entrepreneurial mind, role requirements and others. Part III is getting feedback from my friend. Part IV is how I plan for my life and part V is talk about my personal goals

Part I: Profile of the Past

Sleeping is the most important thing that can give me more energy because sleeping can relax my mind and release my muscle. The other source of energy is money because money can sustain my life and fulfil my requirements. With money, I can buy necessary things such as house, car, cosmetic and others. In addition, exercise also is a source of energy for me because it can transport nutrient and oxygen to my body issues. In the other hand, conflict will take away my energy because it will affect my mood to do daily activities. Conflict will also affect friendship when I argue with friends and we need some time to find better solution to solve our problem. Being scolding or blame by someone is one of the sources that take my energy and motivation. For example, scolding by someone in front other people will cause me loss of motivation because other people will despise me and spoil my image. In addition, travelling will take away my energy because I need to visit more than one place per day.

The ranking of give energy is money and then follow by sleeping. The last one is exercise. The ranking for take energy is scolding by people and the follow by travelling. The last one is conflict.

I would like to spend my ideal month with meaningful and enjoying. My desired lifestyle is build healthy body by doing some exercise or physical activities to maintain my body and keep away from smoke. For my work style, I hope can look for higher position within 20 to 30 and improve my personal skills. In job scope, I want to get a better salary which provides my knowledge and skills to the company. I also will meet some friends during free time such as watch movie, travel and other entertainment. Friends is attracts me because I have more entertainment instead of working in future. The reality repels me to implement my ideal because higher position will make me more stress and tension in my life.

The common attribute that will energise me is control the quality of the product because I dare to challenge and control the quality of the product which can attract customer. For example, I will try from mistake to produce high quality cloth for customer which can increase customer satisfaction. Another common attribute is preparing account statement. This is because I like number and interesting in account flied. Furthermore, I can help company to manage account statement. In addition, I ready to serve customer because I like to communicate with people in order to improve my communication skills. For example, IT analysts need to communicate with customer in order to understand customer requirements and solve the problem.

The attribute that I will turn off is contract because need to responsibility for the law if signing the contract. Contract consists of many term and conditions of the businesses. For example, new worker need to sign contract with corporation after human resource manager approval. Another attribute is writing program because need to use logical thinking in order to create a great system. In addition, I will turn off decision making because it need take high risk if making a wrong decision.

Prepare account statement will give me energy because account is my interesting subject and it just need to prepare account statement in a specific period. Serving customer is take my energy because need to be patient and take time to communicate with customer in order to fulfil customer requirements. Control the quality of product also will take my energy to do more research include internal and external research. Internal research is check whether the quality of the product or the services that provided to customer is high quality and external research is search for the suppliers which who can provide high quality of product or material.

I would like to start my own business someday because I want to challenge myself. I would like to earn more profit to sustain my life and I believe that I can manage my financial well.

In conclusion, I will start my own business even though I take off of decision making, I will learn from mistake and experience to make right decision. Furthermore, I will improve my personal skills and challenge it in order to achieve my lifestyle.

Refer to Appendix 1, if I had $1000, I want to allocate my money like this. I will spend $300 for location because I found that location is most important in my entrepreneurial journey. The ranking for location is number 1. For lifestyle and work style, I spend $150 to it because the ranking for this lifestyle and work style is number 4. I would like to spend $100 for standard living and the ranking is number 5. Besides that, I spend $200 for personal development and the ranking is number 2. For status and prestige, I spend $50 because it is less important for me, so the ranking is number 6. In addition, I spend $50 for impact on ecology and environment and the ranking is number 7. Lastly, I would like to spend $150 for capital required. The ranking for capital is number 3.

The activity that has provided my financial support in the past is part time job as a sales executive which is selling shoes. I have contributed my financial in my education such as bought text books and stationary that I need in diploma life. I have built system on my own such as restaurant system, airline system and others.

I involved in each of the activities because want to gain more working experience and use my skills to suit to the job. I have improved my skills through working such as the way to communicate with customer and understand what customer requirement. Income influenced each of my decision. The reason is the company provide a great salary and I also can earn extra money for myself.

I can work individually instead of in a team. Besides that, I willing to learn new things and adapt new environment as fast as possible. I will improve my communication skills through attend classes. For self-employment, I learn independence to handle the job and find solution when facing problem. In managing people, I will respect and motivate them to achieve goals. In addition, friendly is the most important thing in order to maintain relationship between people. Lastly, money is hard to earn in order to survive in society.

My full time work is product specialist which is selling cloth and I work about six month when I was 17 year old. During this six month, I learn to be tolerance when arguments occur between people and selling skills to promote the products. I had receive a task that i need to responsible for which was need to earn rm1000 by selling fashion cloths per month with other people. After one month, I had successful lead three people achieve the target.

I involved in each of the employment situation above because want to gain full time working experience and encourage by my parent and friend. Time influenced each of my decisions because I had free time to work while waiting for result.

I can work in team and also be able to work individually. Besides that, I am willing to learn new things and skills. For employment, I learn independence to handle the job and find solution to achieve the goals or task. In managing people, I will motivate them to achieve goals and improve my leadership skills. Lastly, money is hard to earn in order to sustain my life.

I have participated in table tennis sport which is 2 members in a team. Teamwork is the most important in table tennis because I need to work together with my partner and won in competition. Besides that, teamwork can apply to life as an entrepreneur because something cannot be able to work individually. After start up business, entrepreneurs need to allocate resources such as human to produce and promote products. Entrepreneurs need to work together with employee in order to provide services or products to customer and increase company’s reputation.

I have quit from my full time job as a product specialist because I have to further my study in that time. My family encourage me to further study for getting good job in future. I have gain formal meeting experience through my job because every month need to have at least one meeting to determine whether have hit sales target.

If I change jobs or relocated, I would like to be a sales manager because I want to look for high position based on my past experience. I have learned selling skills, teamwork and communication skills from my experience to achieve sales goals.

The thing I like the most is freedom when I started my own business because I can go out anytime without asking for permission. Another thing I like the most is friendly because when worked in a small company, we will help each other and find solution together when facing problem. The thing that I like least is argument between people. The reason is different people might have difference opinion that will affect relationship when argument occur. In addition, heavy workflow is the thing that I like least. The reason is when operate or worked in a small company may not enough resources. So, I need to play difference characteristic such as clerk, business administration officer and designer.

The thing I like the most when work in large company is working environment. This is because large company provide comfortable and quite environment for workers that will increase my working mood. Another thing that I like the most is challenging because need to solve problem individually and competitive with others. For the thing that I like least is stress because work in large company has heavy workflow and sometime need to search for better way to achieve company target and goals. Poor communication also is the thing that I like least. The reason is people will less communicate with each other during working period because most of them busy on their work.

Lastly, I believe that creativity is entrepreneurial strength because most of the entrepreneurs will come out with new and creative idea and produce the thing that difference from their competitors. Besides that, dare to take risk also is the strength because most of the entrepreneurs start up their business from scratch. For weaknesses, entrepreneurs need to commit their business and model if they cannot run their business successfully such as bankrupt. In addition, too much competitors in the market also is a weaknesses of entrepreneurial because customers can choose to buy competitor’s product and services.

My business hero is Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong. He takes the opportunity and search for good location to build Genting Highland near Kuala Lumpur. This is because he believed that most people will go for relaxation. He still goes ahead with his plan even is very risky. He facing some problem such as water and electricity supplies but he still invests his financial into his business. Finally, he started up his business successfully without any help form other people.

The characteristic of Lim Goh Tong is dared to risk and challenge because he believed that his planning to build the business will be successful. I admired the person the most is business area because he does not give up easily when facing problem. The characteristic that found in my role model is same with him because I also like to challenge myself and I will put more effort to do something when I plan. I apply these characteristic to my life which I believe that will success in someday when I plan to start up a small business. He also influenced me indirectly because he is a successful Chinese businessman. I will view and apply his role in my life. From him, I learn to have a positive thinking even face problem and believe that I able solve the complex problem. He invested all his financial into his business even do not know whether he can success. This thing attracts me because he never give up easily even risky.

I learned how to invest in the business, how to search for location and start up business from my role model.

Part II: Profile of the Present

Refer to Appendix 2, my entrepreneur strengths is I can tolerance of uncertainty and lack of structure and tolerance of stress and conflict. Besides that, I am nonconventional, open minded, lateral thinking person. I have the ability to adapt and lack of fear of failure. In addition, I have driven to achieve and grow goal and results orientation and being self-starter in leadership. My entrepreneur weaknesses are cannot persistence in solving problem and obsession with value creation and enhancement. I am not a calculated risk taker and do not have the ability to resolve problems and integrate solution. In addition, I do not have the perspective and sense of humor and restlessness with status quo.

Refer to my Appendix 3, my weakness is I cannot extent to which my career and venture are No.1 priority. My strength is good in ethics and integrity and can extent to my conventional values are held.

Based on an Analysis of the Information Given in Steps 1 -3, I will add self-improve to my do list because I need to improve on my weaknesses. I found that I is not risk taker and need improve the skills on solving problem. Besides that, my career and venture is not number 1. Other weaknesses that I need to improve of my creativity because I lazy to thinking new idea.

Part III: Getting Constructive Feedback

I have given a copy of my answer Part I and II to my friend to do feedback. This feedback is prepared by Law Tze Yong.

I am very honest, objective, hard-nosed and complete in evaluating her skills. That can be seen in every step in the part I. She has been answer in more detail about herself.

She has not inventoried her strengths and weaknesses indirectly. The strength that she was states is tolerance and is an open minded person. That all are her characteristics, so most of the time when we have to discuss about the assignment, she are the first person will giving us some idea and have the tolerance to giving us to complete the task first before she starting it same as weaknesses also.

There are no other events or past actions that might affect this analysis. This is because I knowing her about half years only and almost understand what her characteristic is, so when she asking me to help her to answering these part III of the assignment. I felt so surprise and I will try my best to do it better.

Through the research above, she is lack of some of the creativity in the mind, she just follow what was going happen in future and cannot been a good leader, because she are lag of the skills of being the self-starter.

Her strength is during the college life, she was good in self-learner because she able to manage her time and do revision after classes. If I have any problem, she will answer me immediately that what we learn during class. Teamwork also is the strength for her. This can be show during discussing assignment. She can share out her idea or opinion to us and also can accept other people opinion if she feel that the opinion is much better than her.

Her weakness is she is a stubborn person that I can see during discussion of assignment. This is because she want to produce a perfect work in final documentation, so that our group can get the most higher mark compare with other groups. Besides that, she also need to improve her communication skill especially speaking in English language because during the presentation she might not speaking well in English.

Both sides should have the more communication, so that both are known each other very well. Not only that, both side also need have the courage of doing every single work.

I found that you should finding the partner that is fulfil what of the skill that you do not have such as can be a self-starter person. So that he/she can bring along you to start the business.

She does it very well in most of the thing already. The only one of the comment I want to give is do not too trust the person beside you. Try to do everything by your own, if really cannot do it just asking the person beside you. If you over trust somebody, sometimes he/she will do something that can hurt you such as copy your idea.

Part IV: Putting It All Together

Based on my friend’s feedback, I found that I lag of skills to be a self-starter and difficult to be a good leader. Besides that, I also over trust people around me. My friend had advised me that do not so trust people around me because some time over trust the people will hurt me in term of stole my idea.

In conclusion, I am not a good entrepreneur because I am not a calculated risk taker. Besides that, I do not have enough creativity idea and the ability to solve problem. I also lack of knowledge and experience to be an entrepreneur.

Requirement of entrepreneurship include more skills and knowledge. As an entrepreneur need to negotiate with people and have the ability to solve problem. I aim to be a successful entrepreneur in future that able to take risk and challenge. So, I need to motivate myself to achieve my goals.

Reality is cause me give up of my plan because it require a lot of capital. Besides that, I do not like to work in stress and tension environment although I like challenge. In addition, my skills and knowledge is not good enough to be entrepreneur.

Compare to those successful entrepreneurs, I will not be able to success in future if I do not have self-improvement. This is because as an entrepreneur require much skills and knowledge with the experience. I just have little experience and knowledge and lag of skills to be a leader. So, I need to improve on myself first in order to achieve my goals.

In these 5 to 10 years, I plan to join part time course such as make up and beauty course. Besides that, I also will join some others talk to improve my knowledge that related to my career. After 10 years and above, I will start to plan my business which is wedding shop. Before start up the business, I will work in wedding shop for 3 or 4 years to gain experience and skills to manage the shop.

I should proceed with my current venture opportunity because I want to learn how to control and manage a company through my job scope. Besides that, I want to prepare myself to achieve my goals and save money from my flexible salary to open business.

The specific opportunity that I want to pursue and will provide me with sustained energy and motivation is encourage by my parent. The reason is they act a important characteristic in my life. I will get more energy and motivation from them because they will share their experience, knowledge, skills and advise me.

My entrepreneurial strengths are can adapt new environment and position faster and will try to achieve my goals. Besides that, I will challenge myself to learn new things. In the other hand, my weaknesses are not dare to take risk and not enough skills to solve problem. I wish to have the opportunity as a customer service in IT field because I need to improve my communication skills. Although I have worked as product specialist and sales executive but my communication skills is not good enough. I also like to work in team because we can share idea to each other. I have the ability of tolerance so my team members are satisfied with my attitude and performance. Another issue is I might over trust people around me.

Part V: Thinking Ahead

By the time I am 70, I will appreciate my life and the time being left for me. I also enjoy my life with family such as grandchild. My short term goal for that time is I wish to plant some vegetable around my home. In addition, I also want to join charity society to do charity work such as visit old folks house and orphanage house because I can share my knowledge and experience with them. For long term goal, I wish to visit temples around the world if I still can work by the time I am 70. Other than that, I also want to do more physical exercise that can keep my body healthy and energy. If I want to achieve my goals, the most important thing is I need to keep my body healthy so that I can walk myself better than depend on other people.

I will use the next four years to attend different part time courses for self-improvement while working such as accounting software course, anger management and others. The next 7 years is I want travel with my family and earn more money to start up my business.

If I just have exactly one year to live from today, I will continue my study and do part time job as a teacher which is teaching kindergarten student because I like children.

When my age within 22 until 30 year old, I will working in IT field to adapt more knowledge and skills. Within these eight years, I will attend courses to obtain specific skills and knowledge such as make up and beauty course that I interesting for. After that, by the time when I 30 to 40 year old, I will change my job to be a wedding planner or make-up artist to gain experience in this field. After 40 year old, I want travel around the world especially Taiwan to learn more make-up and beauty skills. By the time I am 50, and then I will come back Malaysia and start up my business which is wedding shop. Until my business running successfully, by then time I am 65 or above, I will join some society to be a charity volunteer that can help the people who are needed such as visit old folk’s house.

My goals statements are working in IT field and attend courses for specific skills. After that, I will change my job scope to be a wedding planner and build my business. The ranking of my goals is attend short courses first and then working in IT field. After that, work as wedding planner to gain more experience and then start up my business.

The problem is I might not have enough time to attend part time courses if my career does not allow. Besides that, want to start up even small business is very risky and I am not a risk taker. Other than that, I have not enough skills and knowledge to be a wedding planner. Based on this problem, I will attend part time courses during my study period.

My first goal is attend part time courses such as make-up and beauty course. I will attend these courses during my study period. This measurement of the result is good because I can attend part time course at night after class. The ranking for this goal is number 1. Another goal is working in IT field because I can apply my education to my career. Besides that, I can work in team and provide my knowledge to the company. This measurement of the result is good. The ranking for this goal is number 3. My last goal is as a wedding planner in future. I can gain the experience by working in this area. This measurement of the result is good. The ranking for this goal is number 2.

The ranking of my task or action steps in term of priority is finding a good job that related to my education. The ranking for attend short course classes is number 2. After that, the ranking for gain more experience in wedding area in number 3. Now, my most important single goal is to find a better job in IT field that I interesting and related to my education. After that, I want to learn more in this field and to become a professional in IT field.

For attending a part time course such as make-up and beauty, I can register and attend during the next 7 days. The duration of this course mostly is within one to three month only. I will take this course in Kuala Lumpur because my full time study at there so I will take the course on night. After I graduate, I will work in IT field in Pulau Penang because I have my own transport at there. After four years, I will change my job scope to wedding job because I am interesting in this job. This is because some of the goals cannot be done during the next 7 days.

Based on the above statement, I am no longer working in IT field. If I change my job to be a wedding planner that are no related to my current education, this might cause me need extra time to learn it. This is one of the problems if I want to be a wedding partner. For working in IT field, I have enough knowledge and skills to prepare for this job but I not really interesting to work in IT such as programmer. This is because I found that as a programmer need much logical thinking and the programming language is difficult to learn. For part time classes require extra money and time because I want to attend multiple course that I interest such as make-up and beauty course, nail course and accounting software.

To eliminate my problem to achieve my goals, I will work to earn more money for attend short course because some of the courses also need one thousand and above, so I need to save money from my monthly salary. Although working in IT field is more challenging, I believe that I can face and solve the problem if I put more effort on it. I will try my best to learn more and understand on programming. As a wedding planner is my dream job because wedding party is most important for bridal and I feel excited to prepare the wedding party. So, I want work in this field to learn more knowledge and skills. Although I need to learn or study for that relevant course but I believe that even I do not attend any classes also can be a successful wedding planner because I can learn from working experience.

I need some resources to help me achieve my goals such as financial. This is because money can help me solve haft of the problem. If I have money, I can attend multiple courses even during my study life. I want to learn more skills in future instead of study in the college.
